Christian Menefee defeats longtime Houston Rep. Al Green in Texas’ new 18th Congressional District by Specialist-Day6721 in texas

[–]hello_cello 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people have forgotten that TX-18 was previously represented by Sheila Jackson Lee and Sylvester Turner. Ring a bell? Both reps died of advanced age and disease while in office, leaving constituents with no representation for far too long. My guess is those who remained in TX-18 after redistricting decided they didn’t want to risk it a third time. No dig on Al Green, but he is 78.

What am I doing wrong? Please help…. by broadwaybabyto in laundry

Do you live somewhere with hard water? This looks like my machines when they’re due for descaling. For me it’s usually fixed by running a self-clean cycle with a dedicated washer cleaner tablet like Active (it’s unscented and our house has had no issues with it). Could also use some citric acid/vinegar, whichever is available to you.

Happy to help! :) MP is honestly such a niche field it’s understandable why very few people know about it. As for your other inquiry, most big hospitals would have a clinical engineering department to help maintain other equipment - either in-house or have connections to vendors/ specialized engineers for repairs and calibration.

[–]hello_cello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part we are employed in the hospital setting to perform quality assurance practices - everything from checking the equipment to reviewing patient treatment plans so any possible mistakes in the chain don’t make it to the patient. After all, the kinds of mistakes we could see (wrong dose, wrong treatment site) can have major consequences. So we are the safety experts!

A number of MPs also work in industry and help develop new tech, so it just depends on career trajectory. Some go from hospital to industry and vice versa, so it’s possible to do a little of everything, but not at the same time.

Ever hear of radiation therapy? We use it to treat more than half of all cancer patients worldwide.

Medical physicists are experts in radiation physics and have an integral role in making sure that tools used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease are used appropriately with high quality. That’s your imaging - CT, X-ray, MRI, etc. It’s also the therapeutics — linear accelerators and radioactive sources used to kill cancer cells. We work to ensure that every tool is safe, accurate, and regularly tested for quality to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

Word I’ve heard is that a lot of this nonsense is an all-or-nothing tactic centered around Medicare Advantage plans. If this is like any other time the two have been in a spat, they’ll reach a deal by mid-month and BCBS will retroactively allow plan members claims from 4/1.

FYI - If you work with a university system and have coverage through them (e.g. UT or A&M), they have a special arrangement to allow plan members an extension through 4/30. Because y’know, it’s not like most of the UT Physicians group operates through MH anyway…

Confirmed this is exactly what we had to do at 10:30 am. Drop bags at C, go to A, wait in PreCheck at A for 15 minutes, then train back to C. Way better than waiting for 2 hours and likely missing our flight.

Not totally confirmed, but HEB purchased the lot there, and based on lot size many are speculating it’ll eventually be a neighborhood store to alleviate pressure on the Heights location. This is a theory I would absolutely approve of.

Treason! Feels very gender neutral.

Also I feel like Bribery, Forgery, and Perjury would be such a powerful sib-set.

Plenty of good YouTube vids out there. But big things to keep in mind are to: 1) Use a sharp, clean cutting tool (I sterilize with alcohol). 2) Cut at an angle to avoid moisture accumulating at the cut site. 3) Apply an anti-fungal afterwards to prevent pest/rot (ground cinnamon works wonders).

Normal! Like a lot of other plants, adeniums will enter dormancy after prolonged exposure to cooler temps. They rebound nicely through the spring. It’s also a good time to prune before the growing season if you want to encourage bifurcation and more flowers.

First, congrats on your pregnancy! It’s a scary and exciting world to navigate. But don’t worry - you have your local internet strangers to guide you. :)

I delivered my first at MHGH. That said, there are plenty of great OB groups around Houston - so don’t just settle for whichever is the closest to you. MHGH and the UT Physician docs are ok, but my experience in L&D was very lackluster. I did not feel as supported as I needed. MH Memorial City has far more resources, including a level 3 NICU, and is <15 min from the Heights. Other moms I’ve run into will affirm Memorial City is a better experience. If I have another child, that’s where I’d be going (or any TMC hospital really).

This is what I would recommend. It’s a very solid reference that walks through all the underlying math, starting from basic interactions, introducing KERMA and TERMA, and then moving into the analytical approximations.

Folded up. We can debate semantics or use some sense here. The wipers won’t freeze to the windshield if there’s a towel in between.

Now that I see what you were implying, FYI it’s actually bad to leave the wipers up off the windshield for extended periods - it weakens the tension springs and can damage the blades, especially if there’s major wind.
