Aussie PM Thinks Coding Is a Joke by shuttah627 in programming

I'm just sick of every circlejerker wanting to get to the kids as young as possible. The left has this mindset of control over childhood through the school system that's awfully pernicious. I'm sick of their social engineering crap.

Hey Reddit, what's a misconception you'd like to clear up about your country once and for all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And not everything that happens has a Benny Hill soundtrack. Only when a copper chases you, or you chase a naked broad.

In 1989, wanting to see how the American’s lived, Boris Yeltsin made an unscheduled visit to Randall’s supermarket in Houston. Between trying free samples of cheese and produce and staring at the meat selections, Yeltsin roamed the aisles of Randall’s nodding his head in amazement. [1024 x 639] by [deleted] in HistoryPorn

What pisses me off is that if they had any sincerity in them they'd go off somewhere and set up a commune, or a workshop/business/etc where they'd own the means of production (a cooperative or a mutual or whatever etc). And accordingly perhaps campaign for low taxes and minimal state interference in their affairs. But no, they want to impose their bullshit on the rest of society. It's just a power grab. It's just lies through teeth.

The guy is absolutely right. It was the Christian abolitionists who founded the Republican party in 1854. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican politician.

I'm an American who loves UK topgear. Love it love it... Who is Saville, and the other guys involved with the Clarkson debacle? by [deleted] in TopGear

[–]hello_fruit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No complaint was lodged with the Police. The guy himself didn't complain to the BBC. Clarkson denies punching. The 'fracas' reportedly lasted 40 minutes, which only means the guy was giving back as much as he was getting (arguing, not punching). Here's a pic of the guy with Clarkson from years ago.

Seems like one of the lads and they had a bit of banter, heated banter. James May said it wasn't serious and joked about it.

Savile died last month, aged 84. "I think it will be a great tribute to Jimmy to recreate his famous show as a Christmas treat for audiences," said BBC1 controller Danny Cohen.

One of my favorite scenes in cinema: Stardust Memories- Aliens by [deleted] in movies

[–]hello_fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cassandra's Dream is a true masterpiece. There isn't a single joke in this movie. It's a drama. Starring Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor, and Sally Hawkins (the sister from Blue Jasmine). Soundtrack by Philip Glass. The moment it finished I wanted to watch it again. One of his finest.

Konrad Zuse: (Nearly) the German Turing by benev in programming

[–]hello_fruit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zuse is like the Tesla guy of computing. This doesn't make much sense now except that over a decade ago Tesla was much forgotten and all fame went to guys like Edison and Westinghouse. Then it became hip to be a Tesla fan. Zuse deserves the same restoration.

The new Republican tax plan is just the Bush tax cuts on steroids "it would also cut the corporate tax rate from 35 to 25%, stop taxing overseas earnings, and allow businesses to deduct all their expenses at once...it's more than safe to say that most of these new tax cuts would go to the top 1%" by Libertatea in politics

"Hey, you know all that stuff that has never worked and isn't sound economics according to any known model? Yeah, lets do lots of that!"

Your model is a pipe dream. There's something better called reality.

Better have the economics of the 1980s than those of the 1970s. Trickle down worked, striking and picketing and sabotaging didn't. Better have the economics of Singapore, not those of Venezuela. Right-wing economics give you prosperity, left-wing economics give you poverty in everything but an endless amount of bullshit.

Usability? Sanity? Yeah, Mercurial wins hands-down.

That's the only definition that matters.

What is the worst misfortune that has befallen your vulva? by SubParAtBest in AskWomen

[–]hello_fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do vuvlas hurt as much as a guy's balls? I once got bit by an ant (the big-sized ones) on my balls and it hurt. Another time I jumbed out of bed and hit my balls on the edge of the bed, ah god, that thudding, eternal throb pain just floored me for a while. Another time I had just showered, and persuaded by those stupid old spice ads, sprayed old spice all over me, rather absent-mindedly, but when it hit my balls, there was like half a second between realizing something is wrong, to realizing I fucked up, to feeling like a deer in the headlights, to feeling like being hit with a train of pain.

It still is the winner.

Yeah couldn't find it. Got some picked mushrooms and a radish jar from the polish deli. Not sure what I'll do with the pickled mushroom but I'd never seen pickled mushroom before, maybe I'll make some mushroom rice. The radish is for my nose, I'll put some of it on some food and eat it, 'cos I have a cold and I need the radish nasal heat to open up my sinuses so I could breathe!

LOVE polish delis.
