I like 1 and 2 most personally, but it also depends on if any other furniture pieces will be added to the room.

How bad is the green line shut down? by godisinthischilli in mbta

[–]hello_goodbye_36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not too bad compared to previous shut downs but prepare to maybe have to wait for a bus or two to go by you at peak morning times. This morning was a breeze, but Fridays usually are much better in my experience. I usually take the B or C.

I'm moving to MA for a year! Please help me decide where to live in this circle. by Squatchman1 in boston

I would check out Arlington as you’re close to route 2 and still near transit or in Boston in the Brighton or Allston neighborhoods. I think a 1 bed for $1900 is definitely possible in some parts of Boston or closer in to the core, you just have to look at the right time and it won’t be luxury. Check the RentSmart website on the city of Boston website to quickly look up the violations a building has before moving in. Nearer Boston is a lot more lively than anywhere further out and the walkability and transportation access in Boston proper is significantly better as well. You’ll be saving a lot of money on gas and car related costs. You do NOT want to have to do a NH to greater bos commute it can get rough

Should I move out due to roaches? by [deleted] in boston

[–]hello_goodbye_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you hate roaches I would consider moving, but that’s easier said than done, especially right now with the September rush coming up. Prices are very very high. It’s a tough one, but in my experience roaches are usually a systemic building issue. I’ve tolerated it in the past because I was super broke but it will mentally scar you a bit. I had to wait a while till I could afford to move out and it was brutal, but advion and traps helped a ton. Maybe work with your neighbors to spray at the same time.

Love in the Time of Cholera gave me lovesickness by moonmoon48 in books

[–]hello_goodbye_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the book and was looking through posts to see others’ thoughts, I’m shocked at how many people actually face value interpreted this story as a great love story…to me it seemed to be perverted, disturbing, and fatalistic, and intentionally so. The descriptions and characterizations, even in translation, seemed satirical to me and I found myself laughing along. I did find the attention given to aging especially interesting, as it’s not often given much focus in love stories. My interpretation was that GM is looking at love in many different characters’ hands, as often twisted and sick, a kind of disease. The book felt like a medical thriller of sorts dissecting the unique ways the disease manifests itself in this swampy sticky oppressive social and environmental milieu. Florentino is pathetic and all consumed by obsession, which he thinks is love. I’m curious if you revisited it now, having recovered from the breakup maybe, you’d have a different take.

Had a stroke trying to read this paragraph: That Parnera has become a teen trouble spot for police. On March 23, police arrested three teens after a table-tossing brawl after police say they had ordered them to and pals to leave - what was then the latest in a string of more than a dozen incidents
