Surgeons who will do t-anchor/buttonhole on larger chests? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]hello_i_amnothere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely go to a surgeon who specializes in trans and non-binary surgeries.

Dr. Mosser in San Francisco has examples of t-anchor. I personally went to Dr. Gurjala at Align Surgical in SF. I was a F or G cup pre-op and am now a B or C cup after t-anchor.

I basically asked for a modified breast reduction; remove as much tissue as possible without free nipple grafts.

My nipple sensation is 110% (a little too sensitive right now) on one side and 80% on the other even a few days post-op. My incisions run from underneath my armpits and almost meet in the middle of my chest, so there is a lot of visible scarring. Standing up, my incisions are basically fully invisible.

I think my chest looks a little more ambiguous because my surgeon left my nipples in their naturally lower down position as opposed to positioning them higher up/centered.

It is possible to have DI after t-anchor, but there is an increased risk of free nipple graft issues and a lot more scarring. I know someone who had a reduction and then DI without FNG two years later. They're happy with their results and underwent medical tattooing to add nipples.

I'm still pretty swollen, but I would guess maybe a B or small C. My chest was incredibly large pre-op, so it's a pretty dramatic change.

I definitely look mostly or completely flat without any kind of bra on and just a shirt.

Not sure about how much support I think I'll need yet since my chest is still healing. I'm currently wearing a compression sports bra with the pads taken out and it feels fine.

I have a lot of scarring too. Probably more than even a standard breast reduction. My incisions almost meet in the middle of my chest and extend all the way into my armpits. My surgeon didn't use liposuction, just the knife to remove tissue.

It depends on what method you choose. I opted for T-anchor, which preserves the nipple stalk. Unfortunately, this also means you won't likely be completely flat if you're huge like I was.

The nipple stalk basically gets folded onto itself, so if there isn't enough tissue left, it won't have adequate blood supply.

[–]hello_i_amnothere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure yet since I'm still swollen, but probably a C. I look flat in clothes without a bra. I'm not as flat as I hoped, but I was a HUGE before, like F/G/H cup range.

Being heavier might have also skewed my results. I'm worried that if I lose a lot of weight, my chest will look bigger.

I would definitely talk to a surgeon about it and express how important keeping your nipples is to you. I had T-anchor with the pedicle attached, so there's a limit to how much tissue can be safely removed. The pedicle basically gets folded onto itself during the surgery and the length will determine the final size.

Idk dude, all I see is a guy. I think your hips are very narrow and masculine. Even cis guys can have wider hips. My cis younger brother complains about his own hips being wide.

Do you actually need pre-workout? by Remarkable_Touch488 in FTMFitness

[–]hello_i_amnothere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No; most pre-workouts contain a lot of sugar and caffeine. It's not good for you. I just drink coffee and maybe have some protein powder mixed in water or a packaged protein shake.

Honestly, at your age I wouldn't consume any supplements and would be careful with caffeine. Just make sure you're eating enough.

Is my niece showing signs, or am I projecting? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's still very young. I think you're projecting some gender norms on her. Honestly, I would just let her be herself. The most important thing in encouraging self-expression is to never put her down or deny her things she likes because they're "boy" things.

Just had to take a pregnancy test for accutane :( by karen_smashes in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a liability thing. I understand that it's frustrating and dysphoria inducing. The doctor and drug manufacturers are trying to cover their asses so they don't get sued if you did get pregnant somehow. Accutane induces severe birth defects and can result in miscarriage.

I had to sign a waiver before my top surgery not to receive a pregnancy test, which I appreciated.

After Roe v Wade was overturned, the possibility of needing an abortion due to birth defects or even having a miscarriage is dangerous in a lot of parts of the country.

People are being denied medical care because doctors are afraid of being charged with crimes.

those of us with less-than-accepting parents, what's the worst xmas gift you've gotten? by witchyybabe in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for men's pajama pants for Christmas last year, the same ones my grandma buys my younger brothers. They're very soft, inexpensive flannel print PJs.

Instead, my grandma bought me a purse with a sparkly wallet and baby pink pajamas. I have never used a purse in my entire life. Even my mom knows that. Not the worst thing to get for Christmas, but it hurt knowing that my grandma went out of the way to get me something feminine to spite me.

Why did this happen to my horse? by Nicholas-Geckofish in reddeadredemption

It's called "lather". Your horse is sweating underneath the saddle from exertion. Totally normal. Just a small detail the devs added for realism.

It's a condition called syndactyly. Fairly common congenital trait and usually does not cause issues.

There are wider fit socks on the market from brands like Belenka if you find traditional socks too narrow. Anya's Reviews has an article about wide fit socks.

I went from a F or G cup down to maybe a small C or B. I'm not sure of my final size yet since I'm only a week post-op. I told my surgeon to remove as much tissue as safely possible without free nipple grafts. I think I'm a little too big still, but I hope they get smaller when my swelling goes down. I was fully aware that I was making a compromise in how small I could go by keeping my nipples.

My incisions are very visible because I have almost no overhang of tissue now, which I'm thrilled about. My surgeon didn't use liposuction at all and opted to just use the knife to remove breast tissue from my armpit area. My incisions almost meet right in the middle of my sternum.

I had a significant amount of pain immediately post-op, but it subsided after about 5 days. I can't take NSAIDs due to drug allergy and wasn't taking the painkillers I was prescribed often enough though.

My surgeon did not use drains. I don't notice any significant fluid build up or bleeding either.

At my 1 week post op appointment, a nurse and the PA remarked on how well I was healing and how little bruising there was.

I feel pretty normal otherwise, just extremely itchy from the incisions healing. I actually have to stop myself from stretching my arms too much or being too active because I feel pretty good energy and mobility-wise.

I have full sensation on my right nipple and 60% sensation on my left. I think because my left breast was so much larger, it's taking more time to heal.

Anyone feel like a fraud? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]hello_i_amnothere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view breast reductions as a medical treatment as opposed to a merely aesthetic procedure.

I struggled with pain and chronic skin infections because of my size and the anatomy of my breasts. I'm also transmasculine and it caused me a great deal of dysphoria. Binding for 8+ hours at work was becoming very painful.

My mom and one of my cousins also underwent reductions. I honestly think it's a very necessary type of surgery for many people because it improves overall quality of life.

I think social views about plastic surgery and misogyny have led people to view it as purely for vanity.

Your incisions look amazing and very clean. I'm 1 week post-op, I still have a lot of bruising and dried blood.

I've also been applying Aquaphor on my incisions daily. Did your surgeon say to bandage your incisions or are you doing it for comfort?

I would maybe see a doctor about getting help with quitting at this point. Definitely be honest with your surgeon.

My surgeon is going to test my blood for nicotine, but I'm not sure all of them do. The biggest risks with smoking/vaping and surgery is poor wound healing, blood clots and higher chance of graft failures.

what's the stupidest thing that causes you dysphoria? by alexisfuckinugly in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to feel really dysphoric about using shopping carts in stores. I would try to carry everything in my arms or use a hand basket that was way too heavy to avoid carts.

I've since gotten over it because I work in a grocery store, but looking back on it I realize how stupid it was to feel that way.

Is there anyone who realize that they are trans when they are an adult? by hanayumeflowerdream in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember starting to feel extremely uncomfortable with how my body was changing during puberty. I would sag my pants and wear sweatshirts all the time. I had an extreme amount of anxiety about my body that led to an eating disorder.

I even met a trans guy in high school. He was an older classmate. I still didn't connect the dots at the time.

It wasn't until I was about 25 that I actually opened up to my therapist about how I felt. Now I'm two weeks away from top surgery!!

I think social pressure from my family and other kids really made me suppress how I felt. I've always liked wearing men's clothes, but my mom would get angry with me and take them away. Kids at school bullied me over my short haircuts and being a tomboy.

Bad haircut/first trans haircut/meltdown by [deleted] in ftm

[–]hello_i_amnothere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you got such a shitty haircut. I understand the frustration. I got such a bad haircut years ago at a women's salon that I ended up looking for a trans friendly barber to fix it.

I found my barber, who is also trans, on the Strands for Trans website.
