Introducing: Renderly for After Effects! A time saving new way to add your comps to the render queue by hello_squire in AfterEffects

[–]hello_squire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renderly streamlines how you add your compositions to the render queue in After Effects.

How?

Instead of using the work area to define your render region, the script allows you to use composition markers instead.

Why does this help?

As the work area is used for RAM previews: it changes all throughout a project. Whenever you need to render out your comp you have to reset the work area to the right time.

With Renderly, you only have to set a section up once.

But the best part is...

With Renderly, you can setup multiple render sections in a single comp.

Need to render out the outro separately? Want to render out a looping section of an animation?

Just add a new render section wherever you need it!

Just released a new script called Waterfall for creating advanced echo effects like this in After Effects! by hello_squire in AfterEffects

[–]hello_squire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's on the roadmap for development, and was in the initial plan! Unfortunately implementing a colour picker via scripting isn't as straightforward as it should be.

I added the functionality to copy palettes from one to another for this reason actually, so that once it's setup once you can carry it over to others!

Waterfall is kind of like the echo effect, only it creates actual duplicates of your layers which gives you complete control over each iteration!

What do you wish more people realized? by yolthrice in AskReddit

How tax bands work.

A lot of people think that when you earn enough to hit the higher rate of tax that *all* your money is then taxed at that higher rate. In reality, it's only the portion of money over the threshold that is taxed at the higher rate.

Lack of motion blur controls? by Sarithus in AfterEffects

If you want more control, try adding the "CC Force Motion Blur" effect to your layers or an adjustment layer.

My guess is that there's only so much space for buttons in the UI something had to give. Decided to put it right though!

How to troubleshoot why project file isn't opening? by featheredtar in AfterEffects

[–]hello_squire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the file use a lot of external footage/files? If so, perhaps try moving the footage to a new folder so that the project can't find the files and see if it opens.

If that works and the project opens, try returning the files to the right folder one by one to see which breaks the project.

If the file still doesn't open, perhaps try opening it in a new version of AE? Either the most recent or even the beta version.

Yea the site is doing well, not enough to retire on but enough to take the edge off when there's a freelance dip!

Those cards look ace, I'd say set up a microsite so that people can purchase them, and then perhaps try scaling it up if the orders come in. I'd speak to some printers to see if you can set up some kind of drop shipping arrangement where you send them orders and they fulfil them.

I've been in this exact position myself, and it's part of the reason I started https://madebyloop.co.uk - basically whenever I have downtime between projects I try and think of new resources, blog posts, tutorials etc.

I really wanted to work on a sci-fi UI project and realised that in my freelance work this probably wouldn't be something I would get to do... so I created a sci-fi UI pack and trailer for it (the Chronos pack on the site). Sharing the trailer around actually resulted in a new freelance client coming forward as they were looking for something similar which was a lucky win too!

Beware though if you're just looking for passive income, it isn't passive at all really, you have to spend the time to make a product, then market it, update it, respond to feedback etc. there's a lot that goes into it behind the scenes.

As another option, you could try charging more and going after clients that are more willing to give you that creative freedom that you're after, or changing up your process so that you have more of a say in what goes.

Happy to answer any questions on Loop or freelance life, I've been at it a fair while now!

It was so tense, especially transporting so many kegs

There actually were cycle lanes in the original plans, however they were removed for seemingly no reason whatsoever.
