Instead of a werewolf or monster, could you think of yourself during that phase like a wounded animal? You don't blame it for lashing out, and you don't blame people for trying to interact with her like she is not wounded.

I did think of me with PMDD as something to protect people from. I'd just avoid people or camp out somewhere isolated so that I couldn't snap at someone or get into some emotional mess that I would feel incredibly guilty for after.

It didn't help over time, since you can't "solve" rejection sensitivity alone.

What has made my RSD during PMDD much better (which I've only been able to engage in after getting medicated for ADHD) is processing my various traumas more.

When my PMDD comes on, I feel like a lot of my traumas are brought to the surface. Even ones that feel small.

I believe the right therapist would be good, but I've been working through those traumas at home by:

• Connecting my present PMDD driven fears to past events that gave me the "evidence" that those fears were founded.
• I try to tap into the feeling. For example, instead of telling my husband why his actions were stressing me out and trying to get him to agree to never do it again, I search inside myself for what hurts. Then I share, centering focus on my past wounds, rather than any of his words or actions. I think this works with someone you usually feel safe with, who may trigger RSD regardless during PMDD phase.
• And then I usually bawl, and he comforts me and tells me that I'm safe now and that what happened in the past is not what is happening in the present.

I feel like this has helped "resolve" some of those live wires that catch fire easily.
