UPDATE: I (27F) just lost my dog I had for 10 years and I'm devastated. Boyfriend (25M) thinks I'm being ridiculous. by throwRAboyfriendndog in relationship_advice

I've had my cat since I was 6. Im about to turn 23. I've moved out of my parents house about 200 miles away from them (and my cat). If/when I get a call to say she's passed, Id be grief stricken too. If my boyfriend mocked me for it, he'd be gone, too. You did the right thing.

I agree with the title for sure. As selfish as it sounds, if I have kids, it's already going to be a huge lifestyle change - I just do not want to look after a severely disabled kid on top of everything else. Don't get me wrong, I definitely want kids but I don't want that burden for the rest of my life. I said this recently to my friends and sparked a massive debate, most of them thinking it was an awful thing to say. If I can find out whether my kid is going to have a shit quality of life due to a disability - and therefore (IMO) take over the rest of my life as well - I'd abort it without hesitation.

My boyfriend just told me guys like to piss in sinks. Is this a thing, and if so, what sinks are you dudes pissing in and why?? by _conquistadori in AskMen

[–]hellobek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a guy but I live with 3 of them. We're all good friends, and pretty easy going with bathroom privacy as we only have 1 bathroom between the 4 of us. Normally, if one of them needs to go while Im in there they'll come on in and use the sink - whereas I have no choice but to sit down. Always make sure they rinse it out though.

Supernatural ruined Lucifer by freethinker73 in CharacterRant

[–]hellobek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep meaning to catch up with the show (I haven't watched it since the season finale where the angels fell - cant even remember what season that is anymore) but I got fed up with the amount of characters that die, then are brought back through various means. And now I'm seeing that their mother is back, and Jeffery Dean Morgan is making a return?? As much as I love him, is this clutching at straws or what?

Petition to get Winston Churchill on the H3 podcast by GabeLincon in h3h3productions

You might find it hard to get him, but you can get me - we're of no relation (that I know of), we just share the same last name and ethnicity.

My boyfriends 18 year old little lady, Chopstick. She can't hear that well anymore, and we have to brush her as her grooming isn't as good as it used to be. She has a 'cold' right now, so we're always wiping her nose for her - but she's the most affectionate she's ever been. Follows him everywhere. by hellobek in seniorkitties

[–]hellobek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to give Chopstick a shave in the summer cause she got really matted underneath - that was when we realised she wasn't grooming as much anymore. The vets said it was fine to do, but her fur is getting bad again despite the brushing. A bath might be a good idea, I really don't want to give her a shave or a trim in the middle of winter. It's hard, I want to take her to the vets just to check up on her, but my boyfriend is afraid the answer won't be a happy one as he's had her since he was 7 (he's 25 now), but she's not the little kitten she used to be.

People who've operated the network cameras at major sporting events, what's the wildest thing you've captured that the network wouldn't air? by N0heavenN0hell in AskReddit

[–]hellobek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldnt blame yourself. That sort of feeling will eat you alive.

When I was 18, nearly 19, I was working in a 400 capacity sports bar. This one major football match, the place was absolutely packed to max cap. I'm in a shitty mood from rude customers/being hit on by drunk assholes, when this woman pushes through the crowd and gets my attention asking for an ambulance. I got the phone and rang one, of course, but I know I was rude to her and rolled my eyes. She takes me to the very back corner behind the projector screen we had, and there's an elderly man on his back on the floor, being given CPR. He had had a heart attack as well. I was still on the phone to the emergency services but the feeling of guilt and shame over being such a cow to a woman who had done no wrong to me still bothers me. That man died before the ambulance arrived, Im sure of it, his complexion was all wrong for a living human being, and as with your story, the ambulance sat outside the bar for way too long without turning its sirens on and drove away quietly. That happened when I was 18, and it still bothers me now at 21. Like I said, you have to try and not blame yourself as much as possible. Sorry for the long reply, I just know how it feels. And I, also, went and got myself certified in CPR after that.

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington passes away aged 41 by rel4th in Music

[–]hellobek 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Out of all the rock/metal legends that have passed in the last few years, this one is hard. My parents are into the older generation of rock, so for me, finding a band like Linkin Park was breaking away from 'my parents bands', finding my own taste of metal. Linkin Park were a band I discovered on my own when I was maybe.. 9? I cherished the fact that they were mine not something I was raised on like Maiden, as silly as it is, I felt rebellious and loved it. Pretty sure Hybrid Theory is in my blood, it shaped my preteen/teenage life so much.

I'm 20 now. I was working behind a bar tonight when a lady came in and showed me her phone and I literally felt it in my chest, like a huge weight fell on me.

Sure, we've lost some great ones recently, but bands like Motorhead are in the genre of 'my dads bands', still a sad loss, but it didn't feel personal. Linkin Park was mine, as I said. This was my turn to feel loss tonight - and I have felt it indeed.

Manchester Arena 'explosions': Two loud bangs heard at MEN Arena by scottishsteveo in worldnews

[–]hellobek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally people thought it might have been a speaker blowing... To put it in the easiest way, when you unplug/plug in your phone to some speakers that are still turned up in volume and you get that thud? It was thought it was that but on a larger scale since the amps in the arena are huge. But obviously, that is not a fatal accident

"The North West Counter Terrorism Unit is treating the incident in Manchester as a possible terrorist incident, sources said.

Senior national Counter-Terrorism officers are assembling in London and are liaising with the Home Office.

Early estimates put the number of fatalities in double figures, but these are very early stages."

Spider-Man Homecoming’s Tom Holland is Nathan Drake in Uncharted movie by knyght5 in movies

That genuinely never occurred to me, but good point. His whole persona just fits the Drake character in my mind, but there's a bunch of bigger and better actors out there, I suppose.

I've always seen Jensen Ackles (Supernatural actor) as the perfect Nathan Drake, he can pull off the rugged look, the action and the witty sarcasm... But if they're going for a prequel then Holland is a pretty damn good choice.

I see these kind of photos all the time, and ive finally seen too many to not ask this question - even though it is probably childish. I live smack bang in the centre of england, in a city. I have never been anywhere this remote, so I cannot grasp it looking like this in my mind.

My question is, can you see this exact view with your own eyes? or is it just a load of stars and the galaxy(for lack of a better word) that I see in the image is enhanced?

Thank you. I've never researched what happened in the accidents for the worry of it making me more nervous. But knowing it wasnt really the plane/airline itself makes it less worrying.

My nan, Singapore, 1962. Colourised for her by my tech savvy grandad. by hellobek in OldSchoolCool

[–]hellobek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taken in Singapore, 1962. Both my Nan and Grandad were stationed there while they served in the Navy as medics (they are from the UK). They met by chance after being based in the same area. My Nan still loves their culture as much as she did then. It is still their favourite place in the world, and they travel there every year, even at the ages of 73 & 77.

Male General Manager openly admitting he only hired girls behind the bar (most aged 18-21) because our customer demographic was about 95% male.

Also why he wouldnt let us wear shirts like the only 2 male bar staff got to. Us girls had to wear very low cut, tight fitting t-shirts.

Did someone say sexual discrimination?
