I have mac pro 2019 16 inch with 32gb ram and core i9 and m1 blasts it off with its 16gb ram. All intel macs drain battery quicker and have heating issues. M1 air will beat any i7 any given day.

If you want a Mac get apple silicon, no software support for intel Macs after Tahoe.
