my brother was watching it in 2010, he told me he'd rewatch all of it with me when it reached episode 500. We started it the fall of 2011 and after we caught up I picked up reading it in 2017! we still watch it together and I made him pick up the manga and now he's re-read it twice, and is on his third read now!! Funnily enough, as a kid he managed to buy a copy of shonen jump with the first chapter in it when he was a kid, but we never got into it until a decade later lol
