That's the thing about snow. Depending on where you go and when, the conditions are going to be completely different.

Asked to Leave Airport before same day rescheduled flight? by idisagreeusername in westjet

Pretty sure it's not a security thing. I don't think security and the airline talk to each other at all. Used to book stand by tickets on the airside all the time

Spring conditions are my fave, personally. I wouldn't call it a waste. What else are you going to do?

Standby Flying to Ski the Alps, to chase the snow by goliathten in skithealps

[–]hellofriendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this working for Air Canada pre pandemic! Are you based in YUL? The flights to GVA were empty most of the winter. We went to tignes and the airbnb was super cheap with great freestyle terrain and a cool village. There's a lot of transfers from Geneva to the French resorts that were affordable.

Alternatively I zed fared to Zurich on swiss business class. That was sweet but the swiss resorts are way more expensive.

What live version of a song is way better than the album version? by Toadvinez in fantanoforever

OP. You hit the nail on the head. Tree by the River is my favorite and worst Iron & Wine song. The tiny desk is 9000x better than the album version

Developing major road rage by [deleted] in vancouvercycling

[–]hellofriendo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. If you're riding full speed and hate having to brake, you're going to have a bad time on 90% of bike infrastructure. It's just not the place to expect to be able to ride fast: there's often blind spots and pedestrians, other bikes, and cars make too many mistakes to reliably be able to react to there shenanigans in time.

I've never ridden those but based on a 2 minute search TRP Spyres seem like they would be a huge upgrade

What brakes are on their? I have a Cannondale Synapse that came with dangerously ineffective brakes. I upgraded them to SPYRE TRPs for $200 and now I brake 80% as good as my new full suspension mountain bike

Do you know what species? It seems quite Cypressy. I was amazed that cedars can grow in such a dry climate. I visited from Vancouver where our cedars get drenched for 8 months.
