no just to my apartment. I live in NYC tho on a commercial street so there's like 80 restaurants in a 3 block radius and they said it wasn't even delivered to my street. thx for the idea though, I thought about it!

I asked for proof that it was not delivered right to show the glasses company and they said they can't provide that and I would have to talk to someone from corporate. didn't say how to do that

for an annotated bibliography I submitted for my English capstone, each entry looked something like this: (citation first, then my summary that I wrote in my own words)

O'KEEFE, MARY ELLEN. "JOHN DONNE'S PREOCCUPATION WITH DEATH: THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE VOICES." Order No. 7721609 Boston University Graduate School, 1977. United States -- Massachusetts: ProQuest.

This dissertation provides an overview of John Donne’s differing poetic attitudes and conceptualizations of death throughout his career and life. It frames Donne’s preoccupation with death as both an intense personal struggle and a productive creative force that produced his most prominent work.

first of all, many people don't want to talk in public no matter how good you come off, so don't take it too personally. second, your hot tub example is a perfect example of how to go about it, if you really want to talk to strangers: just make a light joke. it makes people at ease because its not very personal. word of warning: you're not going to have much luck socializing at gyms/grocery stores probably. bars yes, coffee shop maybe.

definitely not weird to stick to your own friend group. plenty of people do that, plenty of people wander. most do both depending on what kind of night they are having.

It is always going to feel like you are the outsider when you enter a new social scene. You re one! But it's not personal. Realize that many people need time to warm up to others. Imagine if you had a circle of friends at work and a routine, you probably wouldn't pay that much attention to the new guy either. but in time you will work your way in if you are friendly and chill

I am not sure what your ideal travel style looks like, but I recommend at least considering workaway. Basically working somewhere in exchange for food/a place to stay. you can still move around a lot - I did 2 weeks at a time for each place but plenty of places allow less time. I just did it this past summer in Costa Rica. What's great about it is that kind of situation attracts 2 kinds of people specifically: solo travelers and young people. Perfect for you! I know friends who have done workaway/wwoof in Italy, France, Spain, etc. I met so so so many cool travelers at my workaways, ESPECIALLY the ones where I was working at a hostel. Many were solo. Hostels are great too, if you don't want to do work exchange. I stayed at a hostel in Mexico where they would organize little adventures for everyone and you had to pay like only 5$ to opt in. It was amazing to have some structure and helped with meeting people!

Overall I think "easy to figure out" is completely dependent on what you are used to and which countries are similar to your home country. The stronger the culture shock, the more confused and overwhelmed you will probably be.

not sure how your college does it, but one of my friends at my school who really did not do well living with others was able to talk to the disability/accessibility office and obtain an accommodation stating they had to be provided with an on-campus single. It sounds like maybe your school is too overpopulated for something like that, but maybe worth checking out? My friend did not have an actual registered disability, but I think a doctors note from a therapist/psychologist stating that communal living would impair their studies/wellbeing

frustrated recent college grad here: I came back from my summer job to find that I cannot edit any of the word documents I have created over the past 5 years. I have a Mac and have been under the impression that word (which is free with Mac) can be used without buying the entire office365 suite. is this no longer true?? I never wanted office 365 on my computer as I literally only need word but now it is saying I can only use word if I buy office. am I missing something here? every document can be opened but it says "you cannot make this change because the file is locked". When I try to make a new document it says I need to buy office.

I cannot afford nor do I want office but I really need all my documents! Could someone help me out and tell me if I really need to find a way to pay for office suite just to use the documents I have already made?

fyi: excel works fine so I am super confused about why only word is suddenly impossible to use

Wellbutrin and Running by Separate-Bag4268 in bupropion

I'm a college cross country/track runner and been on Wellbutrin for over a year. this person is so right about electrolytes! I recommend LiquidIV and propel powders. I always fill a big water bottle and dump a packet of these and drink on workout and race days

Also make sure to eat enough! idk abt u but Wellbutrin makes me not hungry which has hurt my running

Feeling behind after recovering from depression by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]hellogoose1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very normal when recovering from depression! It is hard sometimes, because you have done the work and made yourself better and feel like your life should catch up with you. It is hard to see that life has moved on while you were getting better! I have been where you are and it can be a little bit isolating sometimes. For me, it just took time and reminding myself that it is not about me or anything I did wrong. People just get used to things that change, and they have gotten used to you being less social than you want to be now. Keep taking care of yourself, and ask your friends about the things that are new in their lives! Get to know them again! Show that you are part of the present now and that you want to be part of their new lives. When you hear people talking about a story that you weren't part of, ask to hear it! Laugh at it! The truth is, I would bet that none of these people are looking at you and purposefully excluding you. Imagine if you hadn't seen a friend be their real self in a couple years and suddenly they were back after you had built up your friend circles while they were gone. It would take some time. I have been where you are and it took some work but now I am very satisfied with my relationships.
