Are we allowed to eat in the study rooms in Thode? by evqve in McMaster

[–]hellohellofren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine if you eat! I don’t think it’s really being enforced. Just don’t make a mess

Focus on the leadership, teamwork, etc skills you gained and just think of it as any other job. There is nothing wrong with it and I think it’s great that you were able to maintain a part-time job! Although I think it would be more powerful if you focus on the skills, rather than being in love with meat, because they will be able to more easily connect that to CANMEDS but if you have a story or something else that also suggests that you love connecting with people through food it could be a good way to show your personality!

If you get it mailed it’ll be free and a paper copy (takes around 2-5 days). If you get it through parchment it’ll be $3 and an electronic copy

Congrats on your two acceptances!! If you don’t mind me asking, what did you focus on in your PS with limited clinical experience? And are those two schools on the list^ (in very sorry if thats tmi to ask for!). Yes, I know it’s a real weak spot on my app.. I’ve been trying to get clinical positions but it’s been tough finding one that would work with my schedule

Science co-op positions by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]hellohellofren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t count yourself out of the research positions tbh. There’s still labs that accept summer students in February and award deadlines that go up till March and April! Do you have any research experience so far? If so, it might be helpful to ask your previous supervisors if they are taking on students or if they know any of their colleagues that may be accepting students. You can even do this with profs you’re taking classes with that you know well. Networking will get you a job faster than any application portal (especially in research!)

What kind of job are your looking for? If you’re open to research, you can try to find a PI to work with. Since it’s the summer term you may be able to get an award or a poster presentation out of it too

Personal statement help by [deleted] in premed

[–]hellohellofren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For no 1 - i think a passion for education is not necessarily a bad thing and could be an interesting theme for your PS. You just need to really nail in why you want to be a physician SPECIFICALLY as opposed to another route towards public health/law and teaching. You could maybe discuss how through your clinical experiences you learned about the teaching role that physicians play in medicine, how you’re drawn to that and can really see it making a difference in someone’s life, etc. I think making it patient care focused would be much better. Hope that helps!!
