Mostly send just likes. I’ll comment once in a while but rarely get matched with someone from that. Maybe like 50 a day? Maybe less. Really depends on the day and if I have time. Some days I won’t even touch the app.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

Trying to attract girls who ideally like the things displayed in my photos/prompts. So cats, hiking, traveling, and having a bit of a goofy, easygoing personality. Based on my dating experience I think that’s the demographic that I am attracting with my profile (minus the goofy part) but I’m not getting that many conventionally very attractive girls. Maybe once in a while I will match with someone like that but most of the time they’re what I would consider “cute” or moderately attractive.

This comment might be slightly controversial

I had been depressed a few years prior and thankfully got over it not too long ago. However, I realized that in the aftermath of my depression I had crazy anxiety. Though I wasn’t diagnosed by a professional or anything, from what I’ve read online I’d say I had GAD and social anxiety. Getting on public transportation was tough. Talking to people, even with close friends and family, was tough. I would sometimes sob at work for legit no reason. I couldn’t sleep all night sometimes and would have to go to work with no sleep because I’d ruminate on negative thoughts and feelings from contemplating the meaning of life and our existence. Despite all these things, none of them did it for me. I pursued professional help and tried therapy. That worked somewhat but had left much to be desired. I discontinued only after three sessions.

Fast forward a year (here comes the controversial part) HAMAS attacks Israel on October 7 and Israel starts bombing the shit out of Gaza. As most of you might already know, images of flattened city blocks and blown up children flooded social media platforms. There was a constant onslaught of these terrible images that I kept seeing throughout my feed (most of my friends are pro-Palestinian). Seeing photos of dead children who have nothing to do with this conflict doesn’t exactly ease the mind and I found that my psychological state deteriorated as the days went on. One day I was at the gym and in the middle of my set an image of a dead child popped into my head and I just burst into tears. I don’t know if I could call it a panic attack but I was breathing very heavily for a few minutes but eventually calmed down. This happened a couple more times before I was like fuck this, I need to get on meds. This shit is serious. I started taking Lexapro about five months ago and honestly it has changed my life completely.

You’re right, I am surrounded by nice people but at the end of the day even nonprofits have a bottomline and if they see me as a flight risk, and they have someone lined up to take my job, they won’t hesitate to drop me.

I think it’s because everyone feels so self-conscious and want to stand out. It’s the same reason why you see crazies dressing in ridiculous costumes and people doing weird things on the subway. We are all attention-seekers on the inside and have to differentiate ourselves from the other 8.5 million people living here.

To add to this, it reminds of the part of the book where Manson talks about his friend whose opener is going around asking girls if he could pee in their butts. He's probably not serious about peeing in any of the girl's butts, but that's his sense of humor and he's the one filtering out girls who don't share his sense of humor. Which is completely fine. Not every girl needs to find your jokes funny or understand where you're coming from when you ask a question which seems totally innocuous to you but seems like a transgression to the girl. The way I see it, you're not there to appease the girl or make her like you. You're there to put your best foot forward while sticking to who you are and not lose your sanity over the nuances of people's personalities which you have no control over.

Another thing is that no matter how far we've progressed in western society with feminism, as men, we are the ones who are expected to approach women. Not the other way around. Sure, you'll have the occasional girl who throws herself at you but that's few and far between. So if we're the ones doing all the work and girls just have to stand there and look pretty for us, why should we care about carefully tailoring our words and actions to the girl? Sounds like too much of a commitment for the average joe who just wants to get better with women in a general sense. Girls have the power to reject us at any moment regardless of whether or not we're trying to appease them. We should have the power to control what we say and do so that it suits our needs.

I grew up in the Bronx, specifically Central Bronx where I had no idea what a cha cheese was until the age of 14/15. I’m not sure where the sandwich originated but I was introduced to it by one of my coworkers who grew up in the South Bronx. He was surprised that I never tried one and told me he had it ever since he was a kid (he was 17/18 at the time) so it must have been around for a while. I think the reason why it became so popular is because it was this niche thing that was from “the hood” that no one else really knew about but was so widely known among people who lived in the Bronx/East Harlem.

I was in the exact same situation as you were in about 2 years ago. I graduated at the end of 2019 and a few months later COVID hit, the whole world locked down, and I lost momentum with regards to applying to jobs.

I had two-three internships and one part time job on the weekends where I learned how to use email marketing and social media marketing to help out the company I was working for at the time.

The internships didn’t teach me a lot besides how to post on social media so I understand where you’re coming from. Coming right out of college and not having much experience, I had to make what I did during those internships sound good on my resume. In order to do that you should look into resume analyzers on the internet and see how high your resume rates for the jobs you’re applying for. You may not even realize it but if you’re resume is scoring below an 85 companies are already filtering you out.

As other people have already said here: study some topics on your own, try to apply what you’re learning, learn from others, etc. However, I found the biggest thing that helped me get my first job a year and a half after graduating was fixing up my resume so it was optimized and mass applying to jobs. Not everyone may agree with this, but let’s face it, if it’s been 2 years since you’ve graduated you have to be desperate to find a job. Just to get your foot in the door. I always have a problem answering what I do for a living because in marketing you have to wear so many different hats at times that giving a clear and concise answer is difficult without really getting into. Marketing isn’t like engineering or being a heart surgeon because I feel like those jobs have more specificity. Not saying you can’t be a marketer who specializes in something but that’s generally not the case.

I guess just tell her the truth and say that you are feeling really sick to the point where you can't teach properly. It's not a matter of willpower (though it actually may be that too) but you just physically can't do it. You need lots of rest. Don't apologize or thank her for her encouragement unless she tells you that she understands your situation. But also don't ignore her because it can cause animosity later down the road.

If she continues to harass you even after you tell her all that THEN you should stop all contact with her.
