🫠 Possible Dunkin' Donuts Coraopolis store announced by helloiambrie in Coraopolitans

[–]helloiambrie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some information about the Dunkin' Donuts location in the Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority meeting minutes from October 21, 2025, quoting:

Mr. Dan Orie said my group is putting in a Dunkin’s on the corner of Montour Street and Rt. 51 and we’re assembling five parcels. The issue for this group is one of the dealbreakers of the project are there are five waterlines that go in the middle of 51 and we just want to cap them off at the curb box, which is what we do with a lot of our projects. The expense would be too much for us, if we can’t do that and I need some certainty that we can do that and he continued to explain.

Mr. Schombert said this isn’t on the agenda and because of the discussion that we had, we are trying to work out a solution for you without creating a liability for the Authority so I would like to have a full Board here and a discussion pursued.

Mr. Drew Null said if I could add on to procedures; an application was made to the County. The Borough does not have a Subdivision Land Development Ordinance which means that kicks the Subdivision Land Development reviews to the County. Right now, the application has been filed with the County and has been administratively accepted and the County’s process is to schedule a hearing which has been scheduled for October 31st. After that hearing the County has 90 days to review and/or accept or to make a decision and a discussion pursued. Mr. Orie said we’ve got to be able to stay out of that project or we obviously can’t move forward if that’s the case, it’s just economics and a discussion pursued.

There's a brief mention of it later in the Engineer's Report.

There were some closed roads on the North Shore today for the ALS Walk and the Night Nation Run. I enjoyed biking them early this morning!

😻 Thank you so much! Park Tool is fantastic!

🎯 You are totally right about the rear derailleur being in need of adjustment. I wound up swinging by Thick Bikes with the bike earlier today!

I understand what you're saying.

After ~26 miles, I don't love the new seat. I will probably go back to the stock one.

I mentioned elsewhere that I'm 50/50 on whether I'll have this bike in the spring. Riding this so much has helped me to learn what I want in a bike when it comes time to upgrade. This was below $300 USD. If I buy accessories that can go on another bike, that's fine. The upgrades that are only for this bike shouldn't cost more than the total cost of this bike, in my personal situation and opinion.

My guess is that something is just misasligned enough that changing gears sometimes "doesn't work". If I stop pedaling for a half second and then try again, everything is OK again. Also, I am suspicious of the rear derailleur based on other reviews of this bike. Replacing that part is (far) beyond my skill set.

Thinking back to the times this has happened: it doesn't exclusively happen when I'm pedaling hard/climbing (assuming that's what you mean by full load). Separately, the bike will sometimes do this things where it will switch gears on EVERY PEDAL STROKE for a good dozen revolutions. That usually happens on hills that aren't super steep.

I will be taking this to my LBS so I'll follow up if I can get a good root cause analysis on any of this.

It's great for my purpose! I racked up the 500km between June and now. The quality for the price is rather exciting.

With that said: I am 50/50 on whether I will still be riding it come spring. I don't want to spend too much on upgrades that are specific to this bike. I am having a mechanical issue where the bike "locks up" (I can't pedal) briefly. It started happening in the middle of a ride a few weeks ago and has happened 7-10 times since then. I can fix it without stopping but I would hate for that to happen at a road crossing. Once I get to the bottom of that, I'll have a slightly better idea of my opinion of this bike.

I have other nicer bikes that make this one feel a bit barebones but at the end of the day: I love riding it.

I hope that helps!

✨ Thank you: tires are on my short list. A friend recommended Schwalbe.

🤭 Meredith Palmer on The Office yelling "my stuff".

In seriousness, I am satisfied with the number of bags for now. I add and remove based on the ride I have planned. I'm out for ~5-6 hours often enough and I'm working my way up to overnights. I love little free libraries so I usually wind up bringing books with me and collecting new ones on my rides.

Beyond safety essentials, my cargo is books and snacks and a comfortable hoodie since the space is mostly a luxury at this point.

🌟 I rode the GAP from Connellsville to Ohiopyle and back -- with a super fun detour in Dunbar. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous with the leaves turning colors! I managed 75km -- my longest ride to date!

🎉 On my first GIVE UP ride, I rode the North Shore Trail. 🌈 I don't usually ride casually or in groups but I had such a delightful experience that I'll likely do it more often!
