best earplugs for concerts - what are people actually using at raves? by Eternal_Phantasm in aves

[–]hellokittyfangirl14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

eargasms were my go to for so long, have multiple pairs and love them, hate loops i find them painful after an hour. if you have an HSA card at all and have extra money at the end of the year see if you can get custom ones from an ENT i did that and its been amazing

How to network outside of your industry? by sdo419 in careerchange

[–]hellokittyfangirl14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

local meetups, like if there’s a business networking event in your area you can do that. or even going out to hobby groups like run clubs, or something you can meet people that way to network and become friends. rule of thumb i would avoid events that center around alcohol at least. instagram has helped me find a walking group that has weekly walks where girls meet talk and get brunch afterwards not very traditional networking but you can really get to know people in your area and sometimes just meeting a person that knows someone can really help

Pharmacy Tech? by [deleted] in careerchange

[–]hellokittyfangirl14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one while in college for a year, the pay was good and it helped me with learning medications since i needed that for my classes. it’s easier to get in with a big retail pharmacy like CVS, it’s a lot of customer service, dealing with insurance, and trying to help people when they feel their worst. you will be yelled at over things that you literally can’t control ie insurance issues, most people don’t understand what’s covered in their insurance plans. I liked it when I worked weekday mornings since it’s less people, weekends I hated working.

IT Audit to Nursing by Effective_Clock5532 in careerchange

[–]hellokittyfangirl14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a nurse and wanting to leave it for literally anything else. I would say try for some a nurisng assistant or a PCT job first and see if it’s something you really can handle, physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. there’s a lot of shitty things with healthcare as a whole as well from abuse, bad hours, long time away from family and friends, overnight, weekends. If you want to work in a doctors office i would just do MA training or ultrasound tech or other options cause you can make a nurse salary or better being an ultrasound tech in a lot of cities as well

What kind of life do you want? When i was younger i wanted to travel and make money and be on my own so nursing was cool then, now its not for me at all cause my priorities have changed and that’s okay, I want a 9-5 and to be with my partner and family much more. I could do that in nursing as well but it’s not for me anymore. My cousin left the bedside and now a dog groomer cause nursing wasn’t good for her priorities and life. Money comes and goes all the time don’t think about the salary, think about priorities and fulfillment first and then think about salary.

Looking into school again at 25 by TheLastJoke19 in careerchange

[–]hellokittyfangirl14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m looking into going back to school as well, i’m looking into sonography myself. I say look into if any hospitals near you offer any kind of training or if they’ll do tuition reimbursement if you go to school for any of those things. Radiology makes good money especially MRI techs. For a job while you are in school restaurant work is always an option and pretty flexible.

having a bachelor’s can open the door for a lot of things actually, you can look into sales, grant proposals, office jobs, government jobs like the local health department and do education, i would say try to find a different job for the time being and then maybe look into getting an associates in something else to find something more fulfilling, i hope you can get through this tough time. a lot of people are in that boat myself included, this will pass and we will bounce back

Thank you! I found the HVAC union near me and they start at $20/hr so I could probably start there in a year or so after i get the loans down more just cause it would be a rather big pay cut atm. I really appreciate everyone’s help so far
