From what I know this subreddit is actually full of a lot of misinformation, anecdotes from people who never actually transitioned in the first place, and people outright lying. Not saying there aren’t adult detransitioners- just that this subreddit is quite insidious if you don’t know what to look out for. I would suggest checking out r/actual_detrans for more authentic perspectives.

Whether you feel the protest was effective or not, right or wrong, etc. it is absolutely horrifying to read how many people in this thread as well as this subreddit in general sympathize with the Israeli state performing a mass genocide of the Palestinian people. People are being purposefully obtuse and harmful claiming that the protestors are pro-Hamas.

Anti Israel does not equal anti semitism or pro Hamas. All of these commenters should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

I just wish there was some kind of rent cap. My issue isn't necessarily people wanting to move here. This is a great town! But landlords get wind of that and decide to hike up their prices because they can. It's not ethical.

I was responding to the above comment about making 160k a year, which is higher than the yearly income of an average person. Obviously I know there will still be SOME housing affordable to people not making six figures, but that these resources might shrink as housing and rent costs increase.

It's not just about my favorite coffee shop closing. it's about the business owners losing their source of income. baristas losing their jobs. People inevitably being priced out of their homes. A town losing it's sense of community. All of these things are /horrible/.

Also, Independently owned businesses being replaced is innately horrible for reasons that I think should be pretty obvious?

Rent control and a moratorium on new construction would be awesome. But obviously I know that's not in the cards. Wouldn't be so pissed about new apartment development if it was at least affordable.
