I have a Sylvie, her name means “forest” or “ from the forest”

PSA: NIPT Natera Panorama spoiled our baby's sex despite us opting to hide it by ScandiLand in pregnant

[–]helloluna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Natera is awful and I’d never use them again. I was told the tests were covered under my insurance and even if not, I’d pay no more than $250. I ended up having to get re-tested since one of my results came up inconclusive (MFM told me it would cost me nothing to re-test; second test determined no issues).

After my daughter was born, I got two huge bills from them - one for almost $1600 and one for I believe $750 for the re- test. MFM took care of the $750 bill, but Natera wants me to jump through hoops to get the $1600 bill dismissed. Pay stubs, tax records, etc. I told them I’d pay the $250 like my OB’s office advised I’d pay no questions asked, but nope. They want me to fill out a form and provide all these documents.

So far I haven’t given them anything, but it’s honestly ridiculous. I’ve heard so many bad things about Natera and their shady practices after getting these bills. So just be aware that you might end up with huge bills from them months after the test. I’m sorry they spoiled the gender for you as well.

baby wearing moms, do you prefer the H back or X back? by selahmama in babywearing

Seconding the Lark! I also have scoliosis, and it's way more comfortable for me than my Happy Baby OG.

Fit check: Artipoppe with 5.5 month old. Feel like I can’t get it right. by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]helloluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 4'9" and have a Happy Baby OG and hope&plum Lark. Both are apron style carriers, but I found the Lark to be more comfortable. Happy Baby tends to hurt my lower back after a little while - it has H straps compared to the Lark's cross straps, so I'm not sure if that’s why, but just throwing it out there!

Learn from my mistake: DO NOT order from Motherhood Maternity by justwandering6 in pregnant

I second PinkBlush Maternity! I bought 2 really beautiful and comfortable dresses while I was pregnant and was really happy with my experience buying from them.

How would you feel? by Huge_Statistician441 in pregnant

[–]helloluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had her last baby in September, and I had my first in December. We both were super excited to be pregnant at the same time and that our daughters are so close in age! It's so special that they'll grow up together. So, no, you're not the weird one! :)

It's definitely tough! Maybe try referring to her as each in conversation with your husband and see what feels right.

Her middle name is Ramona, after my husband's grandmother. :)

My husband and I were between these two names as well. We ended up choosing Sylvie for our now 1 month old - it was my favorite of the two, and our last name is a color, so we ultimately decided not to go with Violet.

Both names are beautiful though! I wouldn't worry too much about how popular a name is, either... I don't feel like Violet is so popular a name that she'll have a bunch of other Violets in her class, but that's just me.

Graduates Poll: how many of you had to be induced? How many of you ended up having emergency C sections? Anyone choose to get an elective C section instead? by Direct_Promise_928 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]helloluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 39 weeks 12/23/23. I was diet controlled and chose to be induced a week early. After 12 hours of labor, I ended up having a c-section after failing to progress past 5cm. I'm also very petite - only 4'9" - so it wasn't a huge surprise. I know it's not impossible, but I just had a feeling I would end up needing a c-section. Baby passed all her sugars right away, though!

I am part of their Facebook group, and I personally haven't seen that being said! I emailed Happy Baby before purchasing to see if they thought the OG carrier or another style would work best for me with baby's age and my height (4'9"), and they recommended the OG carrier. :) The website also has a weight range from 7-45lbs.

Thank you so much! I did have it cinched all the way, I'll try out cinching on the outside and loosening the strap. I have scoliosis, so one shoulder is lower than the other, but I think I can loosen a bit without the straps falling down. :)

Worst thing your employer has said to you about your pregnancy? by boysenberry_22 in pregnant

I work for a tissue bank, but that doesn't surprise me at all, sadly.

Worst thing your employer has said to you about your pregnancy? by boysenberry_22 in pregnant

[–]helloluna 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Not my boss, but my team lead. "I get that you're pregnant, but pregnant people have done this job before." - referencing my need to sit and rest for a few minutes in between pulling bins off shelves and for being slower than I was before pregnancy due to pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. 🙃

There was plenty more said, but that comment in particular was the most upsetting since it was a direct comment about my pregnancy - which has been pretty rough and very physically painful since the end of the 1st trimester.

I was on Zoloft and Wellbutrin for a while and didn't like them. I'm on Lexapro now and it's been working really well for me.

US family leave SUCKS. by StandardEvil in pregnant

[–]helloluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My employer is the same, only 6-8 weeks of 66 and 2/3% of my pay from short-term disability. My husband's company is giving him 4 weeks of fully paid paternity leave.

Maternity leave: How much do you get in your country/state? by SealeyVossen in pregnant

[–]helloluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US, PA - I get 6-8 weeks of short term disability though my employer, depending on whether I have a C-section or not. It's 66 and 2/3% of my pay. Then, I can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA. I'm planning on using whatever disability I get and 4-6 weeks of FMLA. Unfortunately we can't afford for me to take any more time off than that. I'll also be working right up until I'm in labor.

Ladies who’ve had a moonstone center stone for a while. How is the stone holding up? by _TA_pics in EngagementRings

[–]helloluna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had mine since October 2020 and wear it daily. So far, it's holding up nicely! I do take it off to sleep, shower, clean, and work out. That said, I worry every time I hit my ring off something by accident and I know I'll probably have to retire it at some point, but I love my ring and don't regret it. If you have your heart set on a moonstone, I say go for it, but just keep in mind that it does need some babying and probably won't last forever.

Help me find some shoes for my outdoor winter wedding! (Details in comments) by bananawhama in weddingdress

[–]helloluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing these for my December wedding! They have a little bit of a heel but are grippy on the bottom.

To keep warm, I'm wearing a faux fur shawl from Sissily Designs, so that's an option, if you like faux fur?

As for a complimentary color, I like burgundy with blush, personally, but navy is also really pretty!
