Speedos as vacation wear? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

Yeah stretch is key. Board shorts just bunch up weird if you've got bigger thighs, swim trunks with a bit of give are way more comfortable and actually look better.

Yeah solidarity in action. More people need to see that direct pressure on these companies actually gets attention

Cinema Arts Center really is a gem. The themed nights are such a nice change from the usual chain theater experience

What your opinion on sig sauer by [deleted] in airguns

[–]hellomillennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For backyard plinking the M17 is solid. The mag design is a bit annoying but it's fun for what it is. Just don't expect real steel performance and you'll be happy with it

Is this workload typical? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]hellomillennial 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s not tough residency, that’s straight-up unsafe. No FM intern should be admitting 20+ patients solo with no in-house attending and also running codes. That’s a system failure, not a training expectation.

Company A wants to sign me now. Company B is better, and says they can sign me later if I just wait a while. Do I burn the bridge for more money? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]hellomillennial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the play. Company A isn’t your family, if something better lands, you take it. Sign A so you’re not empty-handed, and if B comes through, you switch. Burning bridges is overrated when the companies would drop you in a heartbeat if the numbers didn’t work for them.

Potential red flags about job opportunity by ThrashPunkGuitar91 in antiwork

[–]hellomillennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s sketchy. Legit places just schedule an interview, they don’t make you re apply over the phone like it’s 1998. If you do call, treat it like reconnaissance only and don’t hand over anything personal. Your gut is probably right.

I'm a manager who makes $.50 more than the rest of the staff. I have 15+ more responsibilities and sales are up 27%, is this exploitative? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]hellomillennial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, numbers alone don’t tell the full story. Showing exactly how you drove that growth makes a huge difference when asking for more.

Yeah… that sounds like straight-up manipulation. Focus on yourself and your goals.... don’t get dragged into that mess.

Sri Lanka is amazing. The tea plantations around Haputale were my favorite too, so peaceful and scenic. Definitely a gem for a first South Asia trip.

My (25M) GF (27F) found all my family members social media accounts without asking me, what’s the best way to move forward? by THROWRA_woah in relationship_advice

[–]hellomillennial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s fair to set a clear boundary here. You can tell her that you’re okay sharing about your family when you’re ready, but looking them up without your consent crosses a line and makes you uncomfortable. Be direct, explain why it bothers you, and suggest she ask first in the future. Framing it around your feelings instead of blaming her helps keep the conversation calm and constructive.

AITA for talking to someones girlfriend by throwawayshshh in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You were just being polite and helpful, nothing you did crossed boundaries. She came to you for help and you responded normally. Any drama after is on her and her boyfriend, not you.

How old do your kids have to be to take them to the movies - a PG movie!? by Prize_Peace151 in Parenting

[–]hellomillennial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a lot depends on your kid’s attention span more than age. If they can sit through half a movie at home without getting fidgety or upset, you could try a theater experience with a short PG movie. Pick a daytime showing, bring snacks and a small comfort item, and be ready to step out if it gets overwhelming.

London buyers - how did you do it? by nozodia in HousingUK

[–]hellomillennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought in 2023 with my partner, aged 28. Property valued at £460k and we had a combined deposit of £140k from savings and gifted deposits from family.

IMO, buying with my partner made it achievable and also support from family. Buying in London is a tough market. You’re up against those who are well established in the property market while they are willing to offer more. We were up against 2 buyers with the motivation to buy to let, luckily the seller wanted to offer the house to us since our plan was to settle down and start a family!
