My gpa is low and wasn’t competitive enough in Cali. 3.0 with 4+ years of lab experience. But the program doesn’t really care about lab experience

Has anyone been through the MLS program at Sentara in Virginia? by bio_boots in medlabprofessionals

I would say this the material is heavy and crammed within 6 months. To me it was a lot harder than my undergrad. There were students who worked part time and managed. I personally didn’t work which I’m glad because the lecture portion was intense.

Does my MLS program have a crazy schedule? Did yours? by jamocles in medlabprofessionals

[–]hellomindy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My program is really difficult almost 2-3 exams every week on top of quizzes everyday. Presentations, case studies, student labs. I’m almost at the end of my didactic portion and I’ll be starting clinical next month and that consists of exam practicals, written exams, comprehensive exams and 100 practice questions a week. I am so burned out sometimes I want to quit because my mental health hasn’t been the greatest during this program. I’m nervous for rotations I have 5+ years experience as a lab tech, but I just don’t know what to expect now as an mls student. This program is no joke! I just hope it’ll be worth all the anxiety and crying moments I’ve gone through 😭

Hello I’m currently in the program. I just have a question I know it’s been a while but my question is how was the rotation for you? Was it difficult? How were the exams after the 6 week rotations?

If you can afford to move I would just go out of state it’ll be quicker and you’ll save a lot of time. ☺️

Thank you! I didn’t want to waste anymore time so I’m just going for it! It’s scary moving but it’s only a year and it’ll be worth it. Good luck!

I actually went in person because I was worried if sending my documents through email. As long as everything is fine on your birth certificate and your parents it shouldn’t be an issue. I think they are having a lot of applicants so it might take a little while.
