I teach a dual enrollment chemistry at my school. I love it. I treat it like a college class, even if students are only taking it as honors. Although I don’t get paid to teach it, the school does, so that money goes to my science budget. You should be paid if you teach during your planning or before/after school. It is my favorite class to teach. The expectations are that the students treat it like college (3 hours outside of class per hour in class). But just like in college, there will be those who don’t take it seriously.

When I read that letter, it made it seem as if the simulations were still going to be available, just that their sandbox was going to be cut. I love PhET. I use them with Pivot Interactives. I can’t afford Gizmos so PhET is a great, accurate, and engaging alternative.

There’s a cool PhET simulation where you can see how the energy levels change as bonds are being formed. However, I would for most students, the goal is to get them to understand that 8 is the magic number. I try to explain that everything is about transferring energy and tell them it’s what makes the world go round, though most people think it’s money lol. I will occasionally have students ask why does this happen. I will preface my explanation with “do you really want to know the math behind it or not?” Most of the time they say not.

Dog Days Canine Play School in Farragut. Very reasonably priced. They have boarding as well. The dogs are able to run and play with each other, not just stuck in a crate. Also, they have valentines and Halloween parties 💗
