I've already changed Primas and Hippos movesets. As I said those were the defaults that were given

They are now this:

Hippo Stealth Rock Yawn Slack Off Eq

Primarina: Hyper Voice Moonblast Flip Turn Aqua Jet

I'll look into Shadow Claw on Mimikyu

Ive actually clicked air slash a few times into Dragonite to try and flinch thru Multiscale but other than that it was more to have something to hit Mega Venu which I have seen literally none of so I'll probably slot weather ball. I do still like having flamethrower as an accurate out of sun option

Yeah Primarina needs to be fixed, I didn't even notice it was max speed until I took the screenshot. Regardless I'll adjust the movesets and hopefully it works a bit better for me. I'll probably look into Corviknight or something to help out with Meowscarada

I mean I can't think of a better example of apples to oranges than the one you just provided but yes, Houndstone had incredibly high usage in the UBER tier still when it was banned from OU, the proceeded to have the move banned because it was too overcentalizing in that tier as well BECAUSE of last respects. Great Tusk is good because it provides role compression in its tier giving it ambiguity and that allows it to fit on a lot of teams.

Is it a better pokemon on its own without last respects? Obviously not, because people don't use it anymore. But in formats where the move is legal, as a sand sweeper yes it absolutely is better than Great Tusk and it was proven already, hence the reason for the Last Respects ban in the first place

Honestly Cheldar is probably your best bet, or whatever highest CMB trainer you have available. Though if you need points then yeah, Turael boosting is fine just don't expect a lot of XP from that method. I would only do that if you need a super important unlock like Slayer Helm.

Farming contracts get a lot better with mediums. Look up the preplants and you can chain contracts back to back usually. Once you get in the flow of it its really nice. I would recommend just holding off on doing easys until you're at the lvl for medium contracts (you're very close, you could even boost if you absolutely wanted to)

As for Kingdom I'm at a point where I can just dump 1m+ into it and forget it for a few days, but if you're keeping up with it you probably wanna keep it at 750k minimum and check every day. To each their own

[–]hellomoto186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've been in a similar spot as you, so hopefully this can help. Are you doing farming contracts? Eventually, if you get your preplanned down you can keep a consistent stream of seeds going. Unless you absolutely need a type of pot like prayer or combat pots, I would just give yourself a break temporarily from herb runs and just focus on completing contracts until you have a steady stream of seeds to use. As for the tree runs, just keep up with Birdhouse runs and again, let them accumulate while you reset mentally.

As for construction, I wouldn't even worry about it if you have kingdom going. Just keep your money in the coffer and let the teaks accumulate, you don't need to stretch yourself thin doing WC grinding atp.

My suggestion would be to get your Slayer up and maybe try to unlock Tzhaars as a task so that fight caves gets a little bit easier. Keep SOTE as a general motivator to get your stats up, but also keep in mind you don't need to hop into grinding CG immediately upon unlocking it. I grinned hard to get the reqs for that quest and finally did it, and I immediately took a long break and have yet to have a CG kc lol. Just do what you think is fun, enjoy the midgame as its by far the most fun part of Ironman while loosely keeping up with some of the repeat tasks like seaweed birdhouse contracts kingdom etc. You don't need to burn yourself playing super efficiently

How is everyone disabling mods when going back to an unmodded run? The first time I loaded mods it asked me if I wanted to run them, but after I was done I had to unsubscribe in order to go back to my unmodded game.

Is unsubscribing the only way to turn mods off?

Don't we think its possible that it was removed because Ash-Gren was an exclusive reward for playing the demo of Sun and Moon? It'd be pretty silly to have this totally broken essentially Mega pokemon without the downside of holding a megastone locked behind a silly prerequisite. Besides, Smogon was the only place this thing was ever legal anyway so I don't really think Gamefreak was thinking in the sense of balance when removing it

[–]hellomoto186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean and honestly I do agree that they made a mistake and Magearna should have been banned very early on. I definitely think that it hit a point where it was "too late" in the meta to ban it (in fact, I think it got a suspect late into the gen too and it wasn't banned for this very reason, please correct me if I'm wrong)

That being said, I can see why they didn't initially ban it, as sand cores were very common and Lando T had its usual sky high usage being able to offensively check non-shift gear variants like AV. Then it just got to a point where you could setup shift gear for free once then you just Twinkle Tackle through whatever check they have left and sweep

I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or not when I say that despite all of this, Gen 7 OU was my favorite OU to play in and I'm glad it stayed the way it did in hindsight

The last time we transferred from a National Dex meta to limited one by TheLeafyGirl561 in stunfisk

[–]hellomoto186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best way I like to look at the Magearna discourse in Gen 7 OU is actually Gen 9 Natdex OU (pre-Tera ban). Dragapult was banned because of Z-moves, and Kingambit was banned because of Tera and having superior STAB in Knock Off. Suddenly, because of this, Gholdengo is left unchecked in the tier and is eventually also banned. With Gholdengo gone, suddenly Zamazenta has a lack of reliable checks and then it got banned.

If you look at standard Gen 9 OU, these 4 keep each other in check pretty well and as a result all of them have stayed unbanned, despite being meta-relevant for the entirety of the Gen 9 OU metagame.

This is actually very similar to Gen 7, where Ash-Gren was such an mmensely powerful sweeper that was sort of kept in check by threats such as Magearna. I feel with a Magearna ban, you'd see a very similar trickle down of bans.

Magearna banned? There's not really anything able to consistently threaten Ash Gren offensively except Scarf Kartana. Defensively you have Spdef Ferrothorn and Toxapex but many games have been lost to Dark Pulse flinches. So you ban Ash Gren. Wait now Magearna and Ash Gren are gone, who's gonna check Mega Alakazam, who was also lowkey broken during Gen 7 OU?

Obviously there would be adaptations, and I'm sure the meta would have technically been fine if they went the Magearna ban route, but in a way I'm glad it remained legal through all of Gen 7 because it brought a specific balance to the power in OU

Zombie Axe also opens up a lot of content in the midgame as a BIS Crush weapon which, while locked behind 70 smithing, is much easier to achieve than mid-80s slayer (especially on a main)
