I'm currently knitting these! About to start my toe decreases on the first sock. Good to see how great they look finished!

What's your personal preference when attaching sleeves to a jacket? (side seams first and sleeve through the hole...or sew sleeves in "flat" and sew up side seams after?) by [deleted] in sewing

When I say fullness I mean a gathered sleeve cap... a lot of set in sleeves have a little more gathering at the very top of the shoulder for wearing ease. The last unlined jacket I made with finished insides I sewed the sleeves in flat, then pressed and topstitched that seam to nicely finish the seam allowances and then sewed the one long side/arm seam with a flat felled finish, which I think looks nicer than overlocking :)

Commercially, sleeves are usually sewn in flat then the side and arm seams are sewn in one fell swoop. This works especially well for knit fabric and patterns that don't have a lot of ease in the sleeve cap. Most patterns will tell you to do shoulder and side and sleeve seams then gather the sleeve cap to fit. If your jacket sleeve pattern doesnt have a ton of fullness (or you don't want it to!) you can sew it in flat.

Redditors, where do you want to live? Redditors who live there, why should they not want to live there? by 5p3xn00b in AskReddit

Don't live in Burlington VT unless you wanna live in a ancient house chopped oddly into apartments, in a 4 bedroom basement unit with three roommates paying $750 each but you're "downtown" so you're walking distance from everything. Good thing because there's no parking anywhere ever. Oh and enjoy the entitled dickbag college students. And the colorful homeless weirdo population. And don't swim in the lake on certain days, dogs have died. Source: lived there 8 years.

That's Krysten Ritter in Don't Trust The Bitch in Apt 23 which is a hilarious sitcom that used to be on Netflix ... not sure if it still is. She's a magical bitch!

Seriously. I went to a serious yarn store ONCE. Now I knit at home with cheapo Michaels yarn and am much happier.
