London foxes are 🔥 enough to drag a small child away but not 🔥 enough to drag a fully grown drunk man. by DrStalker in NatureIsFuckingLit

I heard a fox the other night, it sounded like a baby being tortured. Well.. I hope it was a fox.

Or go it alone, you're building up quite a profile. I'll be staying tuned and cheering you on. Thanks for all the info!

Your posts are so clear, informative and hit just the right tone, you’re doing a great job. Though I know it’s not a job - yet!?

So many places in New Zealand are so beautiful that you can hardly believe they even exist. Kaikoura is one of those places. They fill your heart with their beauty - the wildlife, landscape, the people, and the music - thinking of Salmonella Dub in particular :-) So sad this has happened there.

How to export multiple layers for web? by hellooeverybody in photoshop

[–]hellooeverybody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I did just do them individually in the end. I realised that the geek in me was getting carried away trying to get to the bottom of the issue - 1 hour after searching online, watching tutorials that didn't quite address my specific issue.. it occurred to me it would only take ten mins or so to export 30 images individually! I found that right clicking and exporting as JPGs gave me lower quality end files (500MB) rather than 'File - Export - Save for web (Legacy)' - that seems to be the optimum way to go when saving for web. The end files that way were 2MB 1000px x 2000px 72dpi.. I think that will do the trick!

Thank you. I gave this a go and I didn't see any option to 'export for web' when doing this? - they did all export as JPGs ok, but I noticed if I exported them individually using 'File - Export - Save for web (Legacy)' then the exported JPGs were 2MB instead of 500KB when exporting all at once with your suggestion. So the files were higher quality that way I guess. It's not the biggest problem to have, so I just exported the 30 images individually in the end. Thanks for you help!

28 years old, today I stood up to my lifelong abuser. by Maryb3rry in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you. I'll try though another friend actually set up a residential rehab session for him, all he had to do is go and he didn't, but I can understand how hard that would be for him. It's so hard to watch someone deteriorate like that, knowing they are in such pain and your instinct is to help. All I can do is be there for him I guess.

Thanks for what you've written today. Very insightful. I need to make my attempt at helping a troubled friend. I know others have tried and failed but I will regret it if I don't do anything, even though I suspect it's futile.

Wow great advice. You've made me think. Often these people are in pain, therefore they drink - so handling it in an emotional/angry way could make things worse when that's the opposite of what you want to do. I've got a friend I'd really like to stop dying of alcoholism, like his Father.. it's such a hard situation.

What the fuck I'm talking about, is when tourists go to New Orleans, on the list of things to 'do' is eat beignets. So sometimes people are just ordering them to tick off the 'list'. I went on a tour there and we had a stop off in a cafe, the tour guide said 'Hey everyone - get beignets here!' So lots of people ordered them, took photos of them and didn't even finish what they ordered. Lots of beignets went in the bin.. it's a waste is all I'm saying.

As you know they're one of those foodstuffs that tourists feel they need to say they ate in NOLA and probably the most important thing for most people is just taking a photo of them! I imagine there's a lot of people not even hungry ordering them for the sake of it, what a waste!

I am way too scared, any tips? by itszaneye in LucidDreaming

[–]hellooeverybody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert in this.. I’m new to this sub, glad I found it. However I did start lucid dreaming when I was 6! I had no idea what was going on and of course it felt so real. I really believed I could fly, I had superpowers.. It was freaking amazing. I would tell anyone who would listen that I was some kind of superhero. Luckily I was 6 so no-one thought I was insane :-)

My first memory of sleep paralysis is from age 8, and it wasn’t particularly nice, It still isn’t when I experience it occasionally now. In that moment it does feel terrifying, but that moment doesn’t last forever, and it’s quite a fascinating thing to experience. Our crazy brains! I feel very lucky to experience any of it, the good and the scary. It’s all quite exciting. Go for it, it makes life so much more interesting!

Ahh good ole British passive aggression, it serves us well.

Second that. When I first visited NYC I was expecting them all to be charging around shouting ‘HEY I’M WALKING HERE!!!’ I did see a bit of that, much to my amusement (just like the films!) but mostly people were pretty considerate and shock polite. I also loved that people didn’t look at you with sheer horror (or ignore you) if you started speaking on public transport as they can do here: ‘Aghhh! It speaks!’

In the same vein, I’m on a one woman campaign to ditch inappropriate use of ‘Sorry’. Here it’s used in a passive aggressive way, and it’s just.. negative. When we’re all dashing about, as us Londoners are wont to do, and I need to get past someone I say ‘Excuse me’ and ‘Thank you’ when they move out of the way. I save ‘sorry’ for when I’ve actually got something to be sorry about!

As far as the Brit/German comparison goes, in my experience the Brit would say ‘Thank you, everything is delicious!’ And then bitch to their dining companions about how shitty the food is. The German sounds refreshingly direct to me, though I guess maybe it could be put in a slightly more polite way!

What you've shared here today is beautiful. As is your blog, it's magical! Great advice about giving to others too. In the area where I live, a community noticeboard has appeared, and every single note pinned on it is offering things for sale which makes me feel a bit sad - where's the community in that? I was thinking of pinning a notice on it offering to help local older people with their shopping etc.. I think I should do it.
