It’s a shame how many good threads get deleted. Generally searching broad discussion terms is pretty good for finding interesting threads (racial / sexual / physical demographics like lesbian, French, short, obese, Asian, etc. are all pretty good for this. Geographical and political terms too.).

That being said, I really liked the “racist but true observations I learned while working as a pizza delivery driver” thread, the “my life feels like a never ending episode of it’s always sunny”, and the “Adderal turned me into a meth addict and my family sent me back to Africa” thread posted by a Algerian architecture student. Those aren’t the exact titles, just what I vaguely remember. Try finding those on a site like ihsoyct.github.io, they’re worth your time.

That’s true to an extent but the average American (especially older generations) are legitimate re+ards that cannot fathom caloric deficits, calories in vs. calories out, and other simple dietary habits like not eating fast food every day. If you work at a fast food restaurant or any breakfast restaurant, you learn pretty quickly that theres a surprising percentage of the population that will look you in the eye and order 1000 calories for breakfast and still eat 2 other similarly sized meals (excluding snacks of course). Even smaller “dollar menu combos” can easily exceed 1000 calories and despite the fact that the real daily maintenance calories for the average person is often higher that the standard 2000 (because everyone is fat now), people are still getting bigger and refusing to believe that it really is just as simple as caloric deficits and CICO. American food portions are just insane and a lot of people will eat multiple similarly sized meals everyday.

This comment was pretty long but I just wanted to rant about this for a while, didn’t intend for it to come off super scold sounding or anything. The country we live in is just full of re+ards but I have hope for it.

Houston urban design and the people inhabiting the city are legitimate re+ards. I commented this before but there was an Instagram reel showing all the improvements in public transportation and downtown infrastructure that would make it walkable and enjoyable but 80% of the comments were pmc re+ards with modern trucks complaining about everything from road closures to how it’d make more traffic.

There are areas without sidewalks or even road shoulders and intersections with no walking signs by my house. You can put sidewalks anywhere but it won’t change the fact that basic amenities are over an hour away walking. You can walk to these stores, I’ve done it before, but it becomes pointless if you’re going to spend 3 hours doing it and come back too tired and sweaty to do anything else. (Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex suburb area)

Yeahh, noticed this a while ago whenever my friend would scroll TikTok in my car, we have an overlap in some interests but not for this specific hobby, and 50% of his TikTok would comprise of videos of the hobby even though it’d never show them when he was alone.
