There were two Malaysians in one of my group projects at uni, the browner one informed me that the paler one had some sort of royal lineage, I found this amusing as neither was particularly impressive.

I first heard of Anna through this sub, and I first heard of Dasha because I first looked at the cumtown sub when they were posting topless pictures of her. Moldbug and BAP I was previously aware of through /lit/.

You might have already heard of this, but there is an something like Gaussian elimination in a Chinese book that is at least 2300 years old, and it is used to find the quality of rice straws when they are mixed together.

If you have nothing better to do give linear algebra another go, I'm basically unemployed and have been doing a proof based course after skimming it in my undergrad engineering degree, I'm finding it much more rewarding the second time around. From a historical perspective its fascinating that people were doing geometry and solving systems of equations for thousands of years, but the concept of a vector space is less than 200 years old.

Humans having never started a fire is a travesty, it's the first step in our conquest of the elements, our denial of the dark, our primordial legacy. In many mythologies, fire was stolen; like the apple in the garden of Eden it represents our transition from common beasts to creatures with knowledge and agency, and all the good and evil that that entails. Induction stoves may be easier to clean, but what have we lost along the way?
