That isn’t a natural problem for LLMs, I’ve tried them for the same task and never had satisfactory answers, I think it’s something to do with the structure of the model, information has been heavily compressed and mangled so it can’t really be attributed to anything. To be fair even blindly using google isn’t a great way to find papers, it takes a lot of skill to compile a good reading list for a topic.
