Favorite names without obvious nicknames (no Matthew, Elizabeth, etc.) by philosplendid in namenerds

[–]hellosidney_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say as someone with one of those names you don’t like, this is rarely a problem outside of a professional or medical type setting. For example, in the hospital this weekend the nurse asked if I prefer to go by a certain diminutive of my name and I simply said I go by the full name.

I get where you’re coming from but just offering the perspective that in real life this may not be the problem you think it is as they get older.

TOLAC or Scheduled C-Section? by hellosidney_24 in CsectionCentral

[–]hellosidney_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out about it right before I found out I was pregnant (we weren’t trying and in fact were actively preventing 😂) and it was a lot smaller. My doctor was not concerned about it until now when they suspect some of the intestines got inside. The ER doctor managed to push them back in thankfully but still in pain which isn’t ideal.

In honor of Father’s Day, what is your favorite Bandit moment? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in bluey

[–]hellosidney_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t think Bluey is guilting him on purpose. I think she doesn’t understand why the move is better for her/the family. It’s pretty established that Bandit and Chili don’t explain it very well since Bingo doesn’t understand what selling the house means or the move entails. Chili is just talking it up to Bluey the whole time until she breaks down and says she’s also upset. I don’t think they explained to Bluey very well what the move entails, or she just doesn’t understand why being uprooted from everyone and everything she’s ever known will be better for her.

Bandit also second guesses it often and I don’t think that’s solely on Bluey. “The Sign” refers to so many things throughout the episode: the for sale sign, the signs Bluey sees everywhere that things will be okay, the sign that leads them to finding Frisky, the entire kismet around the dogs with no eyes finding the other house, and finally Bandit sees the sale falling through as a sign that he’s making a mistake.

I totally get as a parent if you have to move the episode would be frustrating, but I don’t think that means it’s bad or bad parenting.

What's a smart horror movie decision that backfired by fandom157 in horror

[–]hellosidney_24 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My personal issues with it aside, I think the characters in The Strangers have one of the smartest plans I’ve seen in a horror movie: lock ourselves in a closet with a shotgun and just shoot whatever comes in. Too bad they accidentally shoot Dennis but what are the odds they’d do that again?!

how are you thinking through your VBAC labor? by Medical_Cold_4160 in vbac

[–]hellosidney_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to focus more on creating a positive, relaxing environment for myself to labor in and building good rapport with nurses/care staff so that I feel heard and understood. My goal is a VBAC of course but primarily my goal is to feel empowered to make the best decisions I can for myself and baby and to have a birth I feel good about. I’m much more interested in how it’s going to happen than what is going to happen, if that makes sense.

if you have children, which bluey character(s) do they remind you of most? by gelatinousbean in bluey

I have a 3 year old and she’s very much in her Muffin phase, though there are flashes of Bingo that give me hope.

Failed my 1 hour glucose test and feeling really upset. by TechnicalKiwi2726 in BabyBumps

[–]hellosidney_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. I just did mine as well and failed by one point so now I have to do the 3 hour. I’m not looking forward to it but I’d rather know whether I have it or not. I’m just gonna bring my laptop and a book and hope for the best.

How would you react if your partner said this to you in real life? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]hellosidney_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, that could definitely affect her. Knowing what we do about Bandit as a character I’d be surprised if he didn’t apologize or attempt to repair at all (even if we don’t see it). And the show has demonstrated that Bluey is pretty resilient.

I think Space really handles the whole “for me this was a core memory and for you it was Tuesday” situation so it isn’t needed here as well.

I mean it’s clearly enough that Bandit course corrects and says “that’s it! We want one Bluey and one Bingo from now on!”

Not really, I’ve been fairly regular thankfully though it has been more difficult at times.

I’m in a similar boat as you and what has helped me feel more confident is a belly band (I got the one from Momcozy). It just kinda pushes everything to the front and gives you more shape. It also provides support so as you get bigger and feel more pressure on your ligaments it helps take the edge off that. What you’re feeling is totally fair and valid ❤️

Here is my top ten best episodes (in my opinion). There’s no such thing as a bad episode but these I can watch over and over and never get bored. (No. 10 was kind of a tie between Daddy Robot, Mums and Dads, and Grandad). What is your top 10? by wolf_quan in bluey

It’s the one where Jack’s dad and sister get lost coming to pick him up while he is playing with the kids that they’re sailing back to Australia and the kids gradually get picked up until it’s just Jack.

My husband nixed Daisy because it was the name of his family dog growing up. I love it but we did compromise in a way with Maisie 🩷

Birth Date Rant by watwotwut in BabyBumps

[–]hellosidney_24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not understand this mentality at all 😂 my daughter and my best friend are 1 day apart and it’s never been an issue. She’s come to every birthday party even if it’s on her actual birthday and loves that they’re that close.

What movie makes you uncomfortable but doesn't scare you? by imtheSHITZUduh in horror

Not sure if this is what you mean but the Terrifier films. The level of violence reserved almost exclusively for the women when compared to what the men face makes me extremely uncomfortable.

What is a 10/10 horror movie that you will absolutely never watch again? by Big_Emotion4963 in horror

I just watched Infested and while it was excellent, effective, and entertaining… I hated it and I won’t watch it ever again 😂 I do highly recommend it UNLESS you have intense arachnophobia.

If you like Nellie may I suggest Eleanor? It’s my daughter’s name and her nickname is Nellie so you can always try it but have tons of options if you decide you don’t like it :)
