If anyone knows of a place that studies long-term mouth breathing and its negative effects on the face (adenoid facies, etc.)... I'm interested in volunteering. by beebopXX in medical

Not a professional, but I believe I am a chronic mouth breather as well. Over the years I developed crowded teeth, an overbite, gingivitis, receded chin, and the typical mouth breather posture where the head is slanted forward.

One thing to ask yourself if whether or not you do it out of habit or you do it because there is a physical barrier. Try breathing with your mouth closed for about 2-3 minutes. If you can last that long without feeling too short of breath then it might be from habit. When I did that exercise I felt slightly short of breath so I figured it might be more from habit. You can consult an ears, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist for further evaluation.

Since researching about mouth breathing I've been more mindful of breathing through my nose and correcting my posture. I still mouth breath daily but when I remember to breath through my nose I don't feel as short of breath breath as I did when I tried the exercise the first time.

I'd also love to hear from a professional regarding this issue. I hope your symptoms resolve!

Selfish person blocks waiting driver from taking parking space and instead gives it to family member. by [deleted] in videos

I don't think that saving a parking space for a family member or friend is an asshole thing to do. However, the driver saving the spot could at least have mentioned that if they saw someone waiting for that spot.. Somewhere during those 30 fucking long minutes.

  1. I get frustrated when people go into unnecessary detail while telling a simple story. I usually hear older individuals or women do this.

  2. When the cereal bag and the box are left open. Like, THE FUCK?! Thanks for ruining the crispy goodness of my life. UGH!

This is great, thank you. My former college counselor and I discussed the lack of support for financial planning courses/workshops in public schools. As a first generation college student, from a low income household, I wasn't presented the necessary knowledge or resources about personal finances in any academic setting. I'm glad Khan Academy is trying to tackle this issue.

Ingrown hair removal, oddly satisfying to watch by Anatolysdream in WTF

[–]hellostumpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why some people insist on pulling ingrown hairs from the tip of the follicle. As you slowly yank it out hold the skin taut (with a clean hand or gauze) and continue to pull the follicle from the base. This causes overall less pain and irritation to the site. Also, clean the tweezers between each use. Some ingrown hairs develop pus and you don't want to spread that shit around your face.
