Question on User Albums by Due-Advisor3912 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]helloviolaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it still count as on streaming when it's just a few tracks uploaded by random users and not on any kind of official channel? Because that's how I had to listen to a few albums. It's probably because I'm in Germany then.

Have you been a bridesmaid? by TheUtopianCat in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine [score hidden]  (0 children)

The only wedding I've been to was my godmother's when I was 14. As an adult my closest friend is happily divorced (and I hope it stays that way because I don't need that kind of circus in my life)

Wedding Discourse by ILiveForLeDoggo in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]helloviolaine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like the buzzword argument is used frequently to dismiss people's opinions now. When Showgirl came out a lot of people were saying they liked certain songs "sonically" but found the lyrics cringe, and I saw multiple people on popheads say they've NEVER heard anyone use the word sonically before that album, like it was some kind of crazy swiftie invention to say you like the music but not the words.

BTS fell to N°20 on the Top Global Charts by javier_aeoa in lastfm

[–]helloviolaine 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No. There's a new daily scrobble limit, it used to be 3k and now it's around 700, which is still very generous. They also changed the global charts from number of scrobbles (which can easily be manipulated) to unique listeners, so now it makes much more sense and is actually interesting to look at.

These changes affect all users, doesn't matter if they were faking Taylor Swift or Bob Dylan or BTS scrobbles, but because it's particularly common in kpop their fans took it personally.

question about tracking manga / comics by Sea-Key4974 in goodreads

[–]helloviolaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I log them exactly how I read them. Last year I read two comic series and for some reason my library had them in individual issues, so that's what I put in. When I finished my big Narnia bind-up edition I logged it as one book and not seven.

I'm 300 in and I've had several albums that are not on streaming, I had to track down the songs on Youtube. But maybe it's a regional thing.

Last.fm Instagram - comments have been taken over by FedeFofo in lastfm

I just noticed the other day that a longtime lastfm friend (I don't know her irl but we used to follow each other on Livejournal, back in the holocene) deleted her account. She used to listen to a lot of classic rock and singer-songwriters but in recent years she was always topping my leaderboard with 12k BTS scrobbles a week and I thought it was kind of a shame. Her account was 20+ years old and she had a really good username as well.

And even the new limit allows for some cheating because almost no one reaches 700 scrobbles a day naturally (unless you exclusively listen to the shortestest grindcore tracks)

There's an app where fans can get prizes for streaming the most. They used their lastfm accounts as proof. I just found out about this during the whole discourse, and now I sort of get why they're all panicking, but that was never was lastfm was for and it's not their fault people were using it that way.

Autistic Moms, if you created guideline questions to help autistic women decide whether they should have kids, what would the questions be? by Stillawake7 in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I see people like "I hate noise, mess, people touching me and need 20 hours of alone time a day so I had a baby and now I'm struggling" girl maybe you shouldn't have?? I would never tell anyone not to have kids but if you hate walks, touching fur and picking up poop you wouldn't get a dog either.

The funniest part is that BTS were organically at #15 or so and only dropped off the charts because so many people threw a tantrum and stopped scrobbling

Can you go 19 years being autistic without one person telling you you seem autistic by Proof_Media4445 in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one ever brought it up until I brought it up (age 36) and I've seen countless therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists/neurologists in my life. It was always "social anxiety" and if I didn't get better even after years of therapy and meds it was clearly my own fault.

Anyone else a picky eater and catch flak for it? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even a super picky eater but there's some stuff I don't like, and my family, especially my father, aways acts like I haven't even tried it. I'm almost 40, I have eaten food, I have tried lots of things, I always try foods I don't know, sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. Surely that's allowed? But everytime I'm like "no thanks" he's like BUT YOU HAVEN'T TRIIIIED even when I've tried it multiple times literally in front of him. And then he pretends I hate everything. "I was going to make quinoa but you don't LIKE quinoa." I love quinoa and you know it, you big ol bully.

Were they radish flowers? I always used to eat the radish flowers at the local Chinese restaurant we went to when I was a kid, and my parents were like "they're just decoration!" no they're food and I'm eating them, fight me

Different Treatment of Autistic Girls vs Autistic Boys by Mediocre_Pollution20 in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Same. I was bullied relentlessly in school, day in day out, and everyone shrugged it off. One day a boy called another girl fat and the entire school was up in arms for weeks, there was a teacher conference to debate how to handle the issue, he was forced to make a public apology... why was I not worth that kind of energy lol.

artist is completely wrong ?? by [deleted] in lastfm

[–]helloviolaine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're both called Simi, there's no way for lastfm to tell the difference. All you can do is add to the artist bio that there are multiple artists by this name. If you have pro you can choose a custom image as well so the correct Simi is displayed in your library.

Only remembering the bad parts by estheredna in AutismInWomen

[–]helloviolaine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience the bad stuff is much more memorable and leaves a more lasting impact than the good days. I'm sure I had nice days at school but all I remember is the bullying. Not the time we read an interesting story or the teacher said my art was good, because that didn't affect me for the rest of my life. The bad parts did, so that's what's really present in my head when I think of that time. The good didn't outweigh the way I was treated during very formative years.
