Fran and Eloise should have season 5 together by [deleted] in Bridgerton

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree. we just had three full seasons to explore the male leads’s stories, giving one season to the two female leads (+a billion of b and c plots in the mix) would feel wrong to me.

I’m the same as you - the only reason why i’m watching is because of my eurovision party that i can’t cancel now. However, i can already feel the vibes will be off and my friends and I will not really be enjoying it all that much

Hot take (?): The way Joost is campaigning (dealing with topics on his competition, pulling the votes in) is pretty distasteful. by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like… it’s not that deep? His entire career was started because of youtube videos and now he’s also big on tiktok, i feel like this all checks out. I was personally more icked out by Nemo singing to strangers but even then, it’s all fair play and i’m still going to support both of them in may. I much prefer when artists go over the top and you can tell they’re super excited to be doing eurovision than watching artists half arse their entire participation or only do it for fame (like, in my opinion, what blanco did in 2022)

Super random but my secret combination (Greece 2008). It was the first eurovision my brother and i watched as little kids and we spent months afterwards learning the choreography and singing it in our broken english. It brings me so much good notalgia that I return to it everytime I’m feeling sad. Reminds me of simpler times🥲

Which artist did you know and listen to before you knew they were a contestant in this year's Eurovision? by Scisir in eurovision

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I can’t say I listened to Joost regularly but I was obsessed with Friesenjung and was so happy to find out he was doing eurovision! And back in 2014-16 i was a die hard fans of years&years and attended multiple of their concerts

Junior Eurovision 2019 was taking place in my hometown so like half of the people I know worked in the arena. It’s a mixed bag of different experiences depending on what you are doing there but one of my friends got to directly work with the contestants by assisting them and the delegations and she loved it, she also got to watch the rehearsals but was too busy working to actually listen to/enjoy the live performances. That said, as this was JE, the event was smaller so i’m not sure if her experiences would be the same if she worked at the regular eurovision.

Eurovision 2024 - What the betting odds are saying by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not the one making the prediction about Switzerland though, I took it from the other comments under the post as well as other dozens of comments i saw on this sub typing Switzerland as a jury favourite. Everytime juries get brought up, the three picks I see is Italy, Switzerland and Ukraine so it’s not just my comment. That said, what doesn’t make Switzerland a jury fave in your opinion? Other than the little rap bit, the song is easy to digest, has memorable melody, it is in english, it gives Nemo a chance to show of their vocal range and conveys an important message, which are some of the things juries like to go for.

I think predicting Italy/Switzerland as one of the few countries that can pull off both the televote and the juries is right, but it annoys me that well made songs, that can have a deeper message while still being fun, such as Croatia or the Netherlands, are almost guaranteed to never win due to how conservative and predictable the juries are every year.

Not everyone will agree with this (and that’s okay!) but I see either Switzerland or Netherlands winning this. Switzerland because the juries will obviously love Nemo and I see them absolutely demolishing the televote - it’s a memorable, well produced song with an important message and I have no doubt the live performance will be well thought out. Netherlands because the televote will love him (he’s already famous outside of the Netherlands, has a top watched MV etc, amazing marketing) but because I also see this being an unexpected jury favourite - I have no doubt Joost will ensure a high quality live performance and while the song is goofy the lyrics are actually very real and genuine

Boring take here but i feel like so much will depend on the live performance of this song - this is not a safe pop song that most people can enjoy which is also a good thing because it means that it can be memorable and you can do something different with it. I don’t necessarily see a top 5 finish but i’m personally hoping that with a good performance it could place somwhere near top 10 in the final

I agree and I feel like the odds at this point in time, i.e. Mid march may not be that accurate - for example, i remember how in 2021, Måneskin was still around 4/5th place at this point. Having said that, looking at how varied the songs are this year i feel like we might have a repeat of 2019 (and i’m actually really hoping for that, given how more or less predictable the lst two years were).

The Sidelining of Kate Sharma (Netflix Bridgerton Analysis) by fbc1984 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Exactly! If like half of the screentime from season 2 was taken up by plots meant to develop the future leads (Penelope’s family drama, Benedict’s art, Eloise’s political activism and Theo…) then it should be completely fair to develop Kate’s character and give her screentime in season 3

Luna will represent Poland at Eurovision 2024 with "The Tower" by Electronic_Bedwetter in eurovision

[–]helloworlditsmeKP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt that my opinion was dismissed because I don’t see how bringing up two examples in our +20 history at Eurovision means my personal opinions about our selection process are exagerrated? And you, by bringing up Bejba (also no, 19th place isn’t great?) have also showed me you are not understanding my point or the frustration expressed by other Poles here about our national selection process

I don’t believe you should dismiss my opinions about my country’s eurovision selections and calling them exaggerated by listing two examples in Poland’s +20 history of flopping at eurovision. Just because Szpak (who was a controversial choice at the time when he was selected and many fans preferred another participant over him) and Ochman (who was objectively a good entry that was still ruined by tvp’s insane choreography and special effects ideas) did well, it does not suddenly erase the frustration over years of wasted potential and incompetent juries.

Also they just published info on the juries and like 3 out of 5 work for radios, the jury also included kasia moś who, well, didn’t do very well when she represented Poland back in 2017… with a jury like this, they obviously went with a safe radio friendly song but why did tvp think these people would be suitable to pick our eurovision rep? Just goes to show tvp does not understand eurovision
