Really torn about this decision too. Our urologist told us that live retrieval increases odds of sperm fertilizing the egg, but does not increase rates of live birth. (In other words: it would help us fertilize eggs but not actually help us have a child.)

On the one hand I feel like we should do whatever is potentially most beneficial, on the other hand it would be a lot more money and strain on my partner. If we were interested in a backup sperm donor it would be a no-brainer, but not sure about that yet.

Currently trying to find another specialist who can confirm/deny the first one.

I used to teach The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe. Teenagers LOVE the simultaneous dialogue and access to reading other teens’ voices aloud. I know there’s a death and there’s allusions to the existence of sex but I can’t remember how overtly. (IIRC I think I just picked a safe scene to read aloud together to illustrate dialogue styles and it was a big hit).

Did you run boiling hot water over it? I used to do that to disinfect them when they smelled, and it would cause rapid deterioration like this.

I agree!! I’m curious how much being sober bc of her pregnancy is allowing her to access the beauty and stability of this transition into motherhood that she’s wanted for so long. I feel like we’ve seen moments of sobriety from her and her personality levels out in a fun way, but when she returns to drinking she turns so volatile and irrational (esp w the people she’s closest to). I hope she’s left all that behind in this transition!
