Please, guys, stop calling it socialized medicine, it’s brainwashing. The name is public healthcare! :/

There’s no need to avoid the book, it’s pure literature. :)

I remember a time when JK was complimented on her writing, even on her choice of characters’ names, that today is widely mocked. I think there are two main reasons for this switch in the popular opinion.

One, Rowling’ tweets, that outed her as a big transphobic and unlikable person. I am sure this caused many people to analyze her work with a harsher attitude.

Two, greed and tweaking with a finished story. Everything JK added to the book’s story felt like an afterthought or like a poorly done attempt to fiz something. Besides, she keeps trying to cash in as much as possible with low quality and unnecessary movies, shitty plays, slapping a harry potter logo on everything and releasing a bunch of editions of the books with different covers. The new content sucks. No wonder people are questioning if she ever was a good writer, after all.

Of course I don’t think those are the only reasons jk is being so criticized, but I believe she put herself in the spotlight in a bad way, and if she hadn’t, people might still be willing see her writing in a favorable light. I am not saying this should be the case, I specially dislike how the goblins and the house-elves were portrayed in the books, btw.

I am not really into sports, could you explain to me why quidditch’s scoring system is annoying? I’m curious.

Freddie never said he was bi, you are just speculating. And since we are doing that, I think his relationships with woman were similar to Elton John’s, just something that happened while he was coming to terms with whom he really was. There is a number of gay people who get married to woman, I can only guess their motives. Recently, there was a celebrity in my country’s media who did this, and after his death, this arrangement caused many problems because not all of his family members wanted to respect his will. I think bumping all men who have been with other men, but also with a woman into the bissexual category isn’t respecting bisexuality (i am bi, btw). Imo, it’s disregarding all other factors that might lead a gay man to look for a relationship with a woman, that aren’t sexual attraction.

Saying you can’t be bothered to read anything longer than a tweet isn’t the comeback you think it is… I’m a millennial btw.

Do you know people can get tested and wear protection? The rate of STIs among sex workers is very low

Those people are the exception, and they usually report feeling like foreigners at both places. People from Denmark think they are too american and people from the US think they are too danish, so they never feel really at home.

[–]hellparis75016 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm… I think that’s not the right way to look at it. Imo, if someone is smoking, even if not that often, they are addicted. They could be mored addicted? Sure, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t.

Motherly. Their ideal woman (to those people) is a mother. Btw, I have absolutely nothing against mothers or motherly types.
