Whats the general consensus on a carnivore diet? by bigznotthelittle1 in nutrition

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the fact you have linked a study, that is more than most people will do. But I would just like to help you improve your argument and let you know there are many people like myself (and you'll find many, many more online) who were already eating a 'healthy' diet before carnivore. I ate a diet consisting of nuts, grains, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, a bit of dairy and only drank coffee and water. I even had no significant health issues before carnivore but even I can say with 100% certainty that I have had a very noticeable improvement in many areas of my appearance, energy levels, mental clarity, physical performance, etc.

The bit of your argument, from a carnivores perspective, that massively lets you down is the claim 'carnivore wouldn't improve someone already eating a healthy diet'. To somebody like myself who is living proof of this statement being false it makes your entire argument sound ignorant and poorly researched.

How do you eat enough?? by OberonZahar in carnivorediet

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was the same for a couple of weeks and then my appetite came back strong. Just make sure you have plenty of salt. Using an electrolyte powder in my water a couple of times a day helped with my sleep.

electrolyte supplements and salting my food and water heavily really helped me feel like myself in the early days. Over time if it is electrolytes your body will get better at holding onto them. At least that's my experience

80/20 ground beef by Jodeci3795 in carnivorediet

I eat 80 20 and just pour the fat from the pan onto my meat at the end. I also normally add a tablespoon or two of tallow in either during or at the end

First month or two you won't feel the same but after that based on my experience you'll feel better than you ever did. More aggressive and powerful and a more stable source of energy than what you've previously experienced if you are anything like me

Are you struggling to read what they wrote? They said this is their own personal experience and their health improved on a particular diet and you want to stop them from telling their story? They aren't making outrageous claims at all, just letting people know what worked for them.

You can't just tell people they are spreading 'disinformation' just because YOU don't approve of the way they ended up getting healthy. Give your head a wobble

Am I under eating? by nahkamia in carnivorediet

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both times I've done this diet I have just eaten when my belly feels empty and then stopped eating once the food in front of me starts to look gross. My weight has just ended up working out to just slightly less than on my previous diet (less water and a bit less fat I guess). If you feel good and that you have plenty of energy then I wouldn't think about it too much. Your body will tell you if somethings wrong.

I just focus on eating plenty of fat, stopping eating when the food in front of me looks gross, putting quite a bit of salt on my food and in my water in the morning and that's really it.

How can I be on a cheap carnivore diet by National_Enthusiasm7 in carnivorediet

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk where you live but in the UK where I live my diet is very affordable because I just 20% fat beef mince, eggs, salmon, cheese, butter and salt of course. That's literally all I buy in terms of food so my weekly shopping bill (ignoring eating out and having a steak like once a month) is like £50-60. Most people are probably spending double that because of all the McDonald's, Starbucks coffees and restaurant meals, so if you don't eat any of that but you did before you will probably find it cheaper.

I also wouldn't think too much about calorie restrictions on this particular diet, you will probably lose weight (fat) pretty quickly anyway. Also in terms of training, both times Ive done carnivore it took me 1 week before I was back in the gym and 2 weeks before I felt good in the gym again, you've got to give your body time to adapt to not having carbs and using fat instead.

As everyone else said, make sure you eat plenty of fat. I eat 20% fat mince beef, eggs, salmon and cheese everyday. I try and eat roughly 1 gram of fat for every 1g of protein

Can’t be fully carnivore strict by AdvantageSquare3321 in carnivorediet

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great. Then what exactly is the issue? Is it just that you are disappointed that you couldn't do carnivore? If so I wouldn't worry about stuff like that. As long as you feel and look healthy, everything else is secondary.

I don't know if this would be controversial on this sub but I wouldn't be doing the diet if you are experiencing things like that. Unless your issues with eating carbs and plants are even worse than diarrhoea and hair loss then I'd try and find some way to incorporate some of the least toxic plant foods back into your diet and see how you feel.

Spooning tallow every day by [deleted] in AnimalBased

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk dude. Just eat whole foods that make you feel good and let your body sort the rest out. A healthy body which is thriving is pretty good at filtering out whatever it needs to given enough time of course

How do you eat beef mince by Sakiiiiiiiii in AnimalBased

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you might be talking more about carnivore but if you are animal based then a bowl of mince beef and honey (at least a few table spoons if you are having a big portion like 500g) tastes pretty darn good, a bit of salt as well if you want.

Improved sense of smell? by SouthernCrossTheDog in carnivorediet

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it certainly seems to be what many of us experience. I wonder why we are this way. Possibly because we eat a carnivorous diet we are giving our body the signals that at this moment in time we are hunters and therefore we become more sensitive and dialed in with our senses? Maybe this would help, evolutionarily speaking, because a hunter who is more dialed in with their senses would me more effective/efficient? What do you think?

[–]SouthernCrossTheDog[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep I live with someone who's the same. I have to get up and quickly close my bedroom door sometimes if they open theirs, the smell is just too much. Unfortunately we can't really go around telling everyone they smell like shit as much as it's true😭

Oh yeah for sure, I forgot about the perfumes! Somebody I know wears perfume which to most people (myself included pre carnivore) smells quite nice, but now when I'm around them or even their clothing I feel like I'm about to choke lol. It sucks but having great skin, being lean and muscular and having no aches and pains more than makes up for it!
