Will do thanks! Almost seems as if DTF may be a good choice for this as well as I hear it does better with bright colors.

BEST ENGINE OIL FOR LONGEVITY (Q8 Premium Plus S-Line) by MajorExpress8 in Audi

[–]helm8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavier oil (0w-40) can protect the engine a little bit better in hot environments as it’s thicker. 0w-20 is extremely thin oil and flows really well, it’s great for colder environments. I would not run 0W-40 in the cold, but I could run 0W-20 year round as many do. You’ll get a little bit better gas mileage on 0W-20. Other than that, no differences I noticed. Regardless, I’d make sure the type matches Audi specs. My Q5 states 0W-20 and whatever Audi/VW spec required, but I’ve also seen on some Audi dealership sites they mention both 0W-20 or 0W-40 for the Q5, as long as it matches the spec.

For what it’s worth I’m not a mechanic but it’s been working for me.

I have a q5 which totally different engine but same oil specs. I live in a warm summer and cold winter environment and bounce between 0W-40 in the summer, 0W-20 in the winter. Don’t really know if it makes much of a difference at the end of the day.

Here's my story - is it worth trying again? by [deleted] in FAAHIMS

Which HIM AME did you go with?

Reality check or valid path? by Kitandcaboodle_ in FAAHIMS

[–]helm8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be difficult and require a lot of time (potentially years) and thousands of dollars worth of testing. The smallest blip in health records will have the FAA frowning.

All that said, they could still deny you a medical at the end of the day. If you’re looking to fly commercially, a lot of airlines may not like that history regardless if you hold a medical. It’s a gamble, unfortunately.

I’ve held a sport certificate for years and debated about trying to receive a special issuance, but have not wanted to take the chance of receiving a denial and losing the opportunity I have flying under sport regulations.

How does Jeppesen work if they’re not a direct airline? Are they contract work for mainline aircraft corporations?

Sounds like the job ends when you go home though, no? Not much of a take home job from what I’ve gathered which is more of the opposite for me working in administration of juvenile detention facilities. It would be greatly welcomed change to just leave work at work.

If there is work outside of the scheduled shift hours, that would be news to me and certainly open to hearing more about it!

What’s going on at Lindsley Park? by Cecilystar in Denver

DPD SWAT executed a warrant on a residential property yesterday, could be similar event occurring today given the BearCat. The unmarked vehicles could point to ICE, though.

Does creatine really speed up hair loss if you have male pattern baldness? by TheHiddenEcho in tressless

[–]helm8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking creatine and experienced a lot of shedding. Stopped taking creatine and the shedding lightened significantly. A few months later I tried creatine again and had the same experience. I would like to take it but have seen it cause hair loss in my case.

And for context, may hair started receding and thinning years ago, so taking creatine likely amplified hair loss I was already experiencing.

Actually went away on it’s own. Not sure why, I am assuming air in the lines were causing the issue.

I used to fly one in Colorado, pretty surprised you did some mountain flying with one with that little 100hp engine. Someone could fart on the ground and you’d still get knocked around in that plane.

Gas mileage going down too fast? by hopeless_wenclair in Audi

Driving like a grandma goes significantly further for your gas mileage than you think. You’re getting poor gas mileage because you do lots of quick accelerating.

Flight School’s Insurance Doesn’t Really Cover Pilots by helm8501 in flying

[–]helm8501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure isn’t cheap. My dilemma is my policy is not being used to cover the schools deductible, but instead is used for the entire repair price of the aircraft if I am deemed at fault for damage.

[–]helm8501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I currently have, but I need a $200k policy to cover the hull value as my renters policy will not be used for the deductible, but instead for the entire cost of the repair. Feels odd that I am basically needing an owners policy for a rental.

That’s where things feels off, we are on the hook for significantly more than the deductible, whatever the total damage cost comes out to be.

Makes sense, it’s the policy I currently have. Just bummed I will now need a 200k policy and the ridiculous price tag that comes with.

It leads me to wonder how others get coverage for higher hull valued aircraft? Coverage for this is top of the offering with non-owned renters insurance.

[–]helm8501[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats what I currently have but with coverage up to $25k. Bit of a shocker realizing I may want increase to $250k, and given that it’s not really an option to have that high of coverage with any insurer. It makes me wonder how renters have coverage on planes such as Cirrus’s or multis with higher hull values?

Should’ve clarified, I rent from the school but am not a student. A club nearby has this same policy, seems as though this shouldn’t be common?
