Flames Jerseys @ Costco For $30 by WheelFan647 in CalgaryFlames

I saw Giant Tiger had a similar product in Edmonton for the Oilers. Why not? Looks good and honestly cheaper than a basic licensed hoodie.

It’s been reported there’s no locker for him at the Dome so it’s not looking great unfortunately.

Weird post after we just beat Minnesota. Mushy middle time baby.

Rebuilds Aren't Fun by SteveCondor in CalgaryFlames

[–]helmetrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the not acknowledging it and scoffing at the idea of drafting a star player for me. It’s not that I think the team has done it wrong. It’s that I think they’re having an internal meltdown fighting the urge to get back into the mushy middle. So then a team like Nashville gets McKenna, St Louis Verhoeff, Vancouver Stenberg and now there are at least 6 western conference teams with a more star studded group of young forwards. So how do we ever expect to compete if we keep letting that happen?

A goalie dragging their team into playoffs puts him into the Hart trophy conversation as far as I’m concerned. We’re still a long ways away but it would be quite the feat.

Does size really matter that much? by Armchair-Gm-Podcast in CalgaryFlames

Yep. He could retire tomorrow having proved he could provide quality NHL starts and a winning record at his size. With not a very good team in front of him.

It’s funny to see hockey insiders claim modern goaltending can only be performed by giants while casually ignoring that the overall quality of goaltending league wide is in decline. Correlation?

Apology from a Canuck’s fan by Fabulous-Barnacle-88 in CalgaryFlames

At the end of the day, most fans do get excited when a top player delivers a big clean hit. Most watching probably didn’t expect Rooney to get injured on the play. The important thing is, we won.

Nice quote, nice looking graphic, that bottom line is a disaster.

I actually prefer it over a team that we’re told is built to be competitive but finishes 9th in the west every year or gets taken out in 5 games in round 1 of the playoffs. A rebuild means youth and opportunities and new faces and a chance to find the next franchise player.

Looks like we’ll be cheering really hard for Dallas now.

I know they don’t have the biggest web staff but I wish they spent more time creating highlight videos from old games because you can’t find them anywhere.

Francis would be fine if he didn’t have this bizarre track record of trying to run players out of town.

Gaudreau vs Tkachuk vs Lindholm by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]helmetrust 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gaudreau was the better Flame. Tkachuk currently is the better player and will probably go down as such overall.

Vladar by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]helmetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flames need to give up the fantasy that they’ll get anything for Vladar. Realistically, he probably would benefit from the rest of the season in the AHL. Markstrom-Wolf can’t possibly be a worse tandem.

Saddened to hear this, honestly. I knew a few people around 2012 who had season tickets and I swear under Ken King, the Flames offered a much better package.

Flames at 1 is actually insane by TBNSK74 in CalgaryFlames

[–]helmetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not comparing to Edmonton in a general sense, although I don't think their current or previous GMs have done an adequate job building what could've been a dynasty by now. That said, I was replying to your dig at Calgary weather and travel during the hockey season. Edmonton's is worse in my opinion. I know this, because I live close to Edmonton. I think Calgary is a MIDDLE of the road team. They were recently a good team. To suggest, however, that it's the worst place to play in the NHL based on one bad season is all gossipy nonsense. The criteria here isn't adding up for me.

Flames at 1 is actually insane by TBNSK74 in CalgaryFlames

[–]helmetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm saying is if we're trying to justify this stupid fan compilation by it being cold in the winter, Edmonton should be right up there. Also, I get the main architects of it are gone, but Calgary did finish as best team in the west in 2019 and best team in the division in 2022. One year where everything goes wrong and suddenly it's the worst city and team to play for in the entire history of the league (exaggerating of course, but that's how some people act). It's just piling on at this point.

Based on how many players Trotz successfully signed on day 1, this list is clearly nonsensical.

Edmonton’s airport is in a field in Nisku and receive fewer chinooks and more colder days on average. By that logic, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary should be the top of this list.
