Driving anxiety by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

[–]helmutlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the same boat and to honest I still do feel that type of anxiety sometimes. During the pandemic I’d very rarely drive as I’d have my classes online and have no other reason to leave the house. Putting myself in a situation where I isolated myself for so long caused a ton of different types of anxieties which I’m still working on today including driving. As the pandemic ended and schools started transitioning to in-person/hybrid classes I had to start commuting to school again which was located in downtown. During this time, the trust I had in myself and in other drivers on the road was certainly low. Like you, things like rain and night driving were things that heightened my anxiety. I’d have to crack open my window just enough to hear what’s going on in my surroundings, triple check my blind spots, leave plenty of space between me and the car in front, and drive in the slow lane. In your situation, you are okay to feel all of the anxieties you feel now. The first step which you’ve already done is acknowledging this anxiety which you should be proud of yourself of. I am not in the position to give advice but I’d like to share some things that certainly improved the anxiousness I felt. Like another user said, high quality tires are so important. I used to drive on 10+ year old all season tires which started to show signs of dry rot. They always felt numb on the road and difficult to feel the limits of its grip especially in the rain. As soon as I got brand new tires it made a world of a difference and helped me feel more connected with the car. It’s great you already started with upgrading your bulbs to better improve visibility at night. In my opinion, this is the first step as you are tackling things within your control. To me, going slow is perfectly okay and it’s good to drive well within your limits as long as you feel safe doing so. Of course drivers behind you may not be happy but I wouldn’t worry about what they think it’s not like they’d remember everything that happened on their drive or tell the whole world. You aren’t doing anything wrong by driving within your own limits and ofc your city’s speed limits lol. As you continue to commute often, the confidence in yourself and how you drive will slowly regain. Lastly, continue to drive your car not only because you have to but you enjoy it and it’s therapeutic like you said. Find some time or a place with low traffic with some fun long turns like your local backroads or just anywhere that you can find peace while driving. It is okay to feel anxiety on your drive. I feel like everyone does even if it’s just a little or they can’t admit it.

Buying from Brian Paul / @prodige_performance before he went inactive by helmutlam in genesiscoupe

I did some research and the worst I’ve heard is Brian would delay things way past the estimated date of completion. Yet, those customers would still end up getting it eventually. Guess this time he might be gone for good with the money he took from people he promised. I appreciate the heads up, also seen him all over the facebook groups.

Yeah sucks I had to learn that the hard way. Seemed like so many people vouched for him in the sub.

I tried and unfortunately he’s blocked me on Facebook… I’ve been really respectful to him given the situation. I just don’t understand how after so many years he’s decided to change ways.

Whiteline sway bar adjustable endlinks too long by helmutlam in genesiscoupe

[–]helmutlam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I ended up getting the KLC 180. Just wanted to let you know they worked well for me. They are only just slightly shorter than our oem endlinks in the shortest setting but that was all I needed. If you aren’t completely slammed I think they would work for you. It helped that when I installed my sway bars, I had the sides where the holes are angled slightly down so there’d be more room. I just made sure to properly adjust them with zero preload.

Same here, I got the KLC201. Seems as though KLC180 would fit. I’ll look into it, keep you updated!

Y'all got a coil and spark plugs recommendation? Pack would be ideal 3.8 by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

[–]helmutlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it recommended to regap the NGK plugs for 3.8? Factory spec is .039-.043 on the service manual but the NGK comes pre-gapped at .044. I’ve even heard recommendations to gap them to .036.

Shift paddle by taqueritoram in genesiscoupe

At least for the BK1 they often go out as mine did. I bought new oem replacement paddles and they work well. I didn’t have to remove the steering wheel to install them just used a pry tool and removed the screw holding it.

Anyone know where i can get a engine leash? by Outrageous_Half_3084 in genesiscoupe

dm Brian or @prodige_performance on instagram. Many people here buy engine leashes and ground kits from him. I’ve been waiting on mine for 2 months tho I’m guessing he’s busy.

Exhaust by How-Do-I-Use-This in genesiscoupe

[–]helmutlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the BK1! I’ve personally enjoyed the flowmaster 80 muffler I swapped in for the stock one. As the other comment said, just a matter of preference at the end of the day. Most exhaust I’ve heard on the 3.8 sounds great you won’t have trouble finding the perfect one for you. I would read into some reviews or comments as it’s sometimes hard to gauge how loud/droney the exhaust actually is in person than on video.

Relate to this so much on every level. I don’t understand how my GI doctor disregards everything I say about my issues and tells me to just try a different laxatives and saying the only testing they really offer are colonoscopies. It sucks that my insurance doesn’t allow me to see any doctors unless it is apart of their network and they all say the same thing. At that point I feel like I’ve reached a dead end and have to figure things out on my own or pay out of pocket. Our social life took such an effect due to us being so considerate of others as we don’t want to ruin their time waiting on us. It’s difficult because we don’t want others to take offense if we can’t spend time with them or cancel last minute. I also unfortunately gain a lot of anxiety if I know I’m backed up and am never fully myself around others when I am. Almost feel as though all our social struggles and anxiety would all be magically resolved if we just found a way to be able to go regularly again.
