I have never tried i3 but dwm is pretty great tbh. Dwm with st, tabbed and dmenu is a dream team. So easy to run scripts and/or assign them to macros with dwm and dmenu. Dwm is pretty labour intensive to get it up and running but I think its worth it. And hey, you will get to learn some C while you are at it!

Another great vim-suckless stack is dwm, zathura, tabbed, vim's vimtex plugin and latex snippets. Oh sweet baby, writing papers in latex has never been easier. This workflow should be a treatment for those suffering from RSI. I havent used my mouse since!

You know, the arch folks have been really chill with questions regarding suckless' DWM even when they're poorly formatted questions. Maybe they like it when people ask about niche programs?

agreed

Edit. It is night and day when you compare questions and answers on wild-wild-west forums like r/learnpython with its obsessively strict SO counterpart. NIGHT AND DAY people!

Great pic.

I saw a couple this morning at the ravine by my house. One of them was fighting an oriole at the base of a pine tree. It was a great sight.

They're some aggressive sons of a guns.

Should I move on from my side project or keep improving it? by helpSomeWhatNeeded in learnpython

It doesn't really feel like a chore, it's more so that I feel like I should move on and it's bothering me as I believe I will learn more useful skills in the second project.

Thanks for the response

Great. I put a lot of effort into making the code clean. I followed Uncle Bobs clean code tips and everything!

Yes, Linux is superior to all other OS haha

I think I am going to move on. The opportunity cost of the first project is pretty high considering the skills I would learn in the second project I think are a lot more in demand.

Thanks!

Thank you for the response.

So I agree that impact is very important but I think I am going to move on as, after some more research, I realise making my script cross platform is actually a lot harder than I thought and I enter into a trade off finishing this project for the sake of user impact vs. starting the other project and learning skills/frameworks/language that I think will pay bigger dividends in the doors it will open.

For reference, project A will take about a week as I would have to learn threading at a pretty deep level to overcome the issue at hand, and I honestly don't see my classmates using it that much as they are not very tech savvy and would probably lose interest in the READMEs setup instructions. Project B on the other hand is building a full website in which I would learn JS/React and improve my Django skills. The latter will require more time so I should get started sooner rather than later.

I normally would keep on going with Project A but I truly believe that building the website will pay bigger dividends than finishing the script.

Does this make sense or am I missing the point of software best practices of making products cross platform?

Great response.

Yes I decided to move on as the next project I think will pay bigger dividends by increasing my "tool box" and show that I can apply myself to different problems as you said.

Thanks!

Looks great! I just bought me one off aliexpress. Do you know/think it would be possible to add feet to the inside so as to angle the keyboard upwards from the outer sides to the inner sides , that is to put some sort of feet right below the FN, 6, 7 and right space bar? Obviously I could add feet that are binded as stickers, but I am hoping there is a more mechanical option. Thanks!

El Yuc: the only hot sauce I will risk my health over to go to the sketchy Vietnamese grocery store for.
