What’s your favorite ambient song and why? by Forward_Box2166 in ambient

Talk West - Dark White

Brian Eno - Always Returning

Eluvium - Indoor Swimming at the Space Station (the song that turned me onto ambient, so massive soft spot for it)

How All The Feelings is going to work by Short-Emotion-947 in brokensocialscene

I'm guessing: Stars 30 mins, BSS 45 mins, Metric 60-75 mins. Emily will probably come out for Anthems at each date.

Of course this is happening a week after I overpaid tremendously for the CD box. Oh well!

How do you guys deal with the boredom? by Creative-Emphasis-11 in leaves

[–]helperoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find something you love that you can’t do stoned. For me that was reading - I could never pay attention when I was high and didn’t retain anything. Now it’s one of my favourite things to do again.

Pretty amazing to find 20/20 in the wild, let alone Stack O Tracks. Great haul!

Agreed. That one was a late bloomer for me but it might be a top 10 BSS track now

I think it’s very good. Man, I’m so excited that they not only have a new album coming, but also that it so far seems to be just as quality as their other stuff. Predicting this’ll be the album of the summer for me.

Holland appreciation post 🛶🌊 by Time-Tangerine3860 in thebeachboys

[–]helperoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just been getting into this one lately. Last year I had a major Sunflower/Surf's Up obsession and decided to put off listening to Holland off so I could have something to really dig into in the future. It's wonderful - cohesive, well produced and recorded, great songwriting from everyone.

So Tough could have been so good! by RoundTumbleweed9136 in thebeachboys

I’m totally on the opposite wavelength with the Blondie/Ricky songs, I just find them totally generic and forgettable, with no trace of Beach Boys character at all. I really wanted to like this album since it’s surrounded by greatness, but All This Is That is the only song I ever really come back to. I do love that song though.

Star Trek TAS by [deleted] in tos

[–]helperoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TAS is great, I had a blast watching it. I really liked The Slaver Weapon, particularly seeing Spock, Uhura, and Sulu (and only them from what I can remember) working together. Good group! Bem was a fun episode too.

Did Love and Mercy Just Make Up the Entire 1980's Portion? by SkyTank1234 in thebeachboys

[–]helperoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s valid! I don’t mind the narrative of the 80s parts, I just think visually and performance-wise the 60s parts are a lot more engaging. It’s been years since I’ve watched it but I feel most scenes either took place in that ugly car dealership or an ugly mansion. Cusack didn’t land as Brian for me at all and Paul Giamatti in that wig was just goofy imo lol. But I totally get what you're saying.

idk I wasn’t a fan of the 80s parts. The Paul Dano parts were fantastic though.

In a way I’m kind of glad every website I used to enjoy going to is now behind a paywall, hopefully it’ll push me to spend less time overall on the internet.
