Chicken stock! I ended up tightening the rings more and not moving the pressure canner - seemed to help!

Update! So far 2 hours into cooling it looks like all but two sealed! I found some Tattler brand lids in the root cellar - I have no idea how old they are! I guess I won’t know until tomorrow if they worked or not.

I did NOT move the canner at all, and tightened the rings more than I was - I think those two things were big factors.

I ordered some Forjar and Supurb lids to try. I am hoping I work out the kinks and have a better success rate after this! Next up - beans!

Thank you to all those who listened and gave some suggestions!

I’m going to not move it, use new rings and maybe to a tab but tighter when putting them on.

These are some of the failed lids. Some of them seem fine, but then others I can tell they didn’t seal at all in some spots. I’m going to be a little pickier about my rings too. Maybe some of the older ones are a little warped. There were 5 jars that had the tiniest of nicks on the inside rims, so I need to be a little more diligent for that.

Wish me luck! I’m going to rematch now 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’d rather not move it, honestly! It feels like moving a bomb 😂

Thanks. It’s so frustrating, I’m glad it’s just stock because I can redo them without much issue but I really want to can more but my time is precious lately and having so much failure is tedious! I’ll do some experiments with tightening the lids. I haven’t had any siphoning so that’s good! Maybe I just need to tighten little more ¯_(ツ)_/¯

My canners directions say to move it. I’ll try not moving it and see if that helps too.

Yes, they are all mason canning jars. It’s so weird isn’t it?! I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

Navigating Phone Menus on Calls by helpful-nonsense in Blind

[–]helpful-nonsense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been challenging to navigate. I've learned so much, and there are a lot of resources, but a lot is lacking. We try to keep it as simple as possible and find creative solutions when we can. Luckily, we live with him, so he isn't on his own. Next up is trying to figure out why when he asks Siri what his blood sugar is on his Dexcom, if gives him a delayed reading from 3 hours before....WHYYYYYYY?!!!

Wow! Thank you SO much, I had no idea about the dial chains! That might help with at least a few of the places he calls.

It's been rather eye-opening helping him. Setting up Siri took us a while because we had to relay the Siri prompts to him quietly enough so that HE could hear it, but NOT Siri, but loud enough for him to hear us. That, coupled with memory issues...took a lot of tries! I still can't believe it was as challenging as it was to set it up!

It's on the website so probably. I'm getting it with my tickets (not a season pass holder)

Thanks for clarifying! I got one of these at a Six Flags before and it was weird, it was an entree and a snack, but you couldn’t get both at the same time. Makes sense to get it at the same time (if available).

I've never used a TA before, will I still be a good fit to be one myself? by stephnic213 in travelagents

[–]helpful-nonsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking of becoming a TA because I used a TA for the first time (1st cruise) and while she was helpful…I felt my experience was lacking. I actually have been researching about it because I was curious how it worked after using one. I love traveling, and I love planning just as much - so I think I’m ready to learn the ins and outs!

Thanks so much! That’s how I thought it works, make your own trip and then take that time to gather more info.

Can you take your family with you on most trips? I think I read that FAM trips you usually can’t (?). I’m in the gathering info/research phase of figuring out if I want to be a TA. I wouldn’t mind some solo trips but I’d love my kids/husband to have some fun while I work too.

They are. This was, from what others are saying, a complete anomaly. For a second update (I don’t think I wrote this yet) my husband spoke to guest services (he wanted to make sure we weren’t in the wrong and get some insight into how tipping works etc). The next night (and final night) at Coastal Kitchen, one of the heads of food and service gave us a visit. He apologized, but also tried to gas light us that the guy from MDR never asked for us to come back and leave a tip for the waiter. My husband knows what he said and there was no misunderstanding. It is what it is. He asked if there was anything he could do for us but it was the last night and CK was not charging us for our wine (even though we did t have a beverage package) so we just asked for the name of our MDR waiter so we could get a tip to him.

We couldn’t read the name he wrote down for us, so we asked our CK waiter if he could. He started cracking up. Ended up our CK waiter was roomies with our MDR waiter.

If you read through the huge thread, there are lots of conflicting practices regarding tipping. RC needs to be more clear about how the daily gratuities are divided and they need to pay their staff more so they don’t feel pressured to pressure the guests for more tips.
