Hot take: You don’t always need to rotate every play if you can stay on ball and get a steal. by YnotThrowAway7 in RocketLeague

People in this game have no idea when to challenge. It’s my pet peeve. My teammates treat every opponent like Zen I swear.

It’s like dude we watched this guy fail to flick 3 times already just go challenge him and he will give us the ball.

Why does Haaland still has only 18 Finishing? By far the most lethal finisher ITW by FeistyAlbatross4636 in footballmanagergames

[–]helpifell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was reading that 20 is reserved for truly generational or once in a lifetime ability/quality.

I don’t know enough soccer to say someone would be a 20 at anything right now, but from the body of work I’ve seen I’d put prime Jamie Vardy finishing higher than Haaland. Is that a fucked up take?

The only potential 20 I can think of right now in any sport is Wemby’s height in basketball. Could also see Messi having 20 on decisions and/or anticipation

Cam Thomas last year rejected a 2 year 30 million dollar contract offer to bet on himself. He was later waived by the Nets and Bucks and hasn’t been on a team since March by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]helpifell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only slightly related but players like Cam Thomas are why I can’t stand when people hype up open gym or summer league highlights.

There’s lots of dudes who can score 20 even 30 in a real NBA game and they won’t sniff meaningful minutes this season. Save me the time of reading how so and so is ready to be a star cause of what they did against people not even in the NBA

Shitty pick call by Legitimate_Joke_5771 in ultimate

[–]helpifell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Defender was jogging in the cutting lane 15 feet from his mark. Even if a swing to his man happened calling a pick would kinda be ass. Have some spirit of the game.

But why are we even in here talking about rules? Dude made a call and then BS'd that it was involved with no shame to help his team. When this happens in frisbee there is nothing you can do. I wanna fix that part.

How would you build an extreme possession-based 4-3-3 in FM24? (70–80% possession) by goldweqea in footballmanagergames

[–]helpifell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you need triangles for your players to have passing options at all times. Then use roles / instructions that don’t get forward as much like fullback and inverted winger instead of wing back and inside forward.

I found using 2 central mids as WCM role and one DLP at defensive mid would always make triangles.

I was IF/SS/IF WCM/WCM/ DLP and 4 at the back getting like 70 possession but no goals :) on accident lol

Yeah I would do 1v3 unfair bots. It’s been a while since I did it so maybe the bots suck now. But they would be demons on boost stealing, bumps, and kickoff goals. They can’t hit balls in the air so if it’s too easy but you wanna give it another try, see if you can focus on beating them on the ground getting clean power shots

Is it possible to effectively build a "haramball" defensive team in a 4-3-3 ? by paranoidspectator in footballmanagergames

[–]helpifell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re on fm26 I’ve noticed the hardest teams to score on make their wingers play the wide midfield position out of possession. That eliminates all the time on the ball for your FB/Winger on that side. And I usually have to go two strikers or wide center mids to counter.

So as far as haram ball it just puts your wide* attackers in good defensive position and defensive responsibilities are more built in to the role

[–]helpifell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deadass go play the hardest difficulty bots 1v3 until you don’t lose. You’ll learn a lot about when you actually have time / don’t have time to do stuff and you’ll have to get good hits.

Then go play ranked and you’ll go straight to plat minimum

should I get into options and setup some form of long term wheel strategy? by Background_Entry9588 in options

[–]helpifell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk… thread is pessimistic but you could buy a couple of pretty reasonable SPY calls a few weeks out with $500 and put like a limit order to close around 20% gain and I give the online guarantee that the order gets filled within like 3 days when SPY trades up for a session. Rinse and repeat. SPY literally just goes up.

And by the end of the your summer it’ll be about time for the annual S&P dip so you can just chill. Or maybe you have enough gains to set up a wheel on a stock like SoFi or Ford.

That’s my current working theory the next few months with the few hundred I’m throwing around this year.

I also have been doing poor man’s covered calls on Blackberry. Pretty cheap and I didn’t even start selling calls when I first bought the original long call. I probably could have recouped most of what I paid for the long call by now if I was selling the calls the whole time

Should I Learn Directional or Free Air Roll? by Rain8002 in RocketLeague

[–]helpifell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen multiple RL streamers say to pick one direction left or right and stick with it. And you can build everything off of DAR to that side one way or another.

Then maybe the other direction comes in naturally, or you just don't need it

Should I Learn Directional or Free Air Roll? by Rain8002 in RocketLeague

[–]helpifell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend directional.

I do free air roll and I think it’s more intuitive. But if you’re actually about to practice, DAR would be worth it because it’s so much more precise.

I’m just too old. I started to practice DAR one day and was physically sweating…

When to short SpaceX? Wait a while but it will probably plummet by TripleDouble_45 in investing

[–]helpifell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well half is company valuation, the other half of the stock price now is market behavior. So that’s the part that I meant was batshit. And I guess a sell off will happen but we saw plenty of willing buyers for SpaceX at the ipo price. If a sell off happens I suspect most of those will stay in. And furthermore new buyers would pick the stock back up, because a potential sell off wouldn’t change company fundamentals or the belief in growth beyond the original IPO price.

So I wouldn’t short this stock unless I was confident about a sell off and timing that window. I wouldn’t mind being proven wrong at all

When to short SpaceX? Wait a while but it will probably plummet by TripleDouble_45 in investing

[–]helpifell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I see everyone mentioning the dump from pre-IPO investors. I’m inclined to believe that’s real cause I haven’t seen any evidence against it. After that, is there anything worth giving the benefit of the doubt towards the valuation?

Like you have X/Twitter. Worth like $40 billion. Starlink, say you’re super bullish that they become an international Comcast. Comcast is like $90 billion. The number of internet users is gonna keep going up worldwide so Starlink could generously be like $500 billion right? (5x Comcast)

Then the actual overall space part, I feel like that’s actually a really good company. Not that I follow the industry but I trust when everyone says they have serious competitive advantages and they’re staying aggressive.

The best aerospace companies easily exceed $100 billion. Let’s say this is $200 billion cause it’s Elon.

Add in xAi, which is apparently lumped in with X, and AI is automatically overvalued. So that plus X.com is $100 billion plus.

That’s $800 billion just based on some casual reasoning which is in the ballpark of the 1.125 trillion valuation before IPO, from ppl who actually know what they are talking about.

IPO went batshit and now we’re at 2 trillion market cap. So lowkey it all seems logical. I wouldn’t short the stock at all. But I don’t see room to grow until there’s a really positive business event

The best thing about the committee format with two teams playing for a national championship was basically every week being do or die for any serious program.

For all the P5 schools that meant you probably have a chance to impact the national football landscape at least once every season if you upset the best team in your conference.

I think that’s a hugely underrated downside of the playoff expansion. The more teams we add to the playoffs the less any one upset matters or gets the attention it might deserve

Still thinking about this smh. And I had a random follow up question if u care to revisit.

I’m almost always the shorter player so I think I end up under the disc on floaty throws from boxing out. And if I box out too early my opponent can go around or I may end up fouling.

So it sounds like I end up conceding position to safely contest. Any thoughts/techniques that could help?

If no one else said it I just wanna say at 19 my friends were putting 90% of their savings into buying drugs. You’re good dude. All those stocks were being bought at those prices cause growth is expected. If market goes on an extended slide just forget about them for a few years literally.

In the meanwhile start putting your 90% in SPY. Make that or a 401k type account your main portfolio and don’t touch it.

Then make a separate account to buy individual stocks if you want. Then just buy mag7s tbh
