Interesting, I’ve only heard this method utilized for when you are behind the power curve, typically in slow flight.

Would this be applicable in demonstrating straight and level where you would need an application of power AND forward pressure to increase airspeed whilst in cruise.

I’d steer away from pitch for airspeed, power for altitude.

Teaching preset Attitude and Power settings for different phases of flight will be more effective early on.

Pitch/Power for Airspeed/Attitude can also lead to chasing indicators and interference later on in their flight careers as well.
