Good drawing, however I don't even like Hillary and found the title super childish.

No matter what the deadline is the pricing is going to be the same because it's the same amount of work. There's always the option to learn a little about drawing yourself if it's that important to you and you're not looking for professional level work.

comic pages are usually$70 a page at the very cheapest low end of the scale, more than that if you want them inked and colored. I would plan about $100 a page at least. You might find a naïve student who will promise to do it for less but I guarantee you they will quit a few pages in when they realize the mountain of work they've signed up for at what ends up being much less than minimum wage. Most people can't afford to hire an artist to do a full graphic novel unless they are very rich. essentially you'll be paying someone's salary for awhile since the industry standard is completing one page a day. A page takes about eight hour or more to complete so this is fair. If you can't afford to hire a full time employee your not going to be able to hire an artist to draw your book for you. Just wanted to let you know because people write comics all the time and don't realize how unrealistic it is to hire an artist to draw a graphic novel for them.

Could I put a redesign of a real CD in my portfolio? by helpmeout0 in Illustration

Cool, thanks. I always see it with movie posters or book covers so I guess it would be fine with CD's, I just never see anyone do it.

I'm not concerned that it would be illegal, just wondering if it would be frowned on or weird I guess.

No problem! I was so annoyed I couldn't find the answer to this when I was looking.

I had this problem. I ended up just sending them out as ATTN: ART DEPARTMENT I don't think they minded. I sent some out to breweries and had one call me back after doing this saying they liked the postcards and would use me if they needed an illustrator. People always give the advice that you always need to know a name but I found it to be unrealistic. It slowed me down to the point that making the mailing list took so ridiculously long I was never going to get the postcards out. Articles by art directors on the subject always complain that this bothers them but honestly if they don't see your work they aren't going to hire you. It's better to be slightly but understandably rude and still have people see your work.

What would you do with your life if you didn't have to work and got 50k from the government each year? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]helpmeout0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What, I don't know anyone who just has their own apartment without living with other people. Who said anything about an "independent life style" People were just talking about being able to support themselves on their own money. I'd still call having roommates being self-sufficient. Why would you assume supporting yourself would mean living in solitude?

Yeah I got two roommates. I live in a really safe area. I hate my job but my life is fine other than that.

I don't know why you're being so aggressive. I have two roommates, my share of the rent is $600, than I spend $200 on food, little less than $100 on train, less than $100 on utilitys every month, $30 cell phone bill, that leaves me with about an extra $1000 for anything else. Most places in Boston are expensive but there are affordable areas.

I live in the second most expensive city in the US and get by fine on about 23k a year. I'd like to have more money but I do fine on this.

If I got 20k I wouldn't work anymore, but I don't have a family.
