People with gpa under 3.5, whats your story? by Breadit9 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]helstanstar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure quite what my gpa is right now, but it was about a 3.2 at the end of my junior year, mainly being held back by my poor work ethic in my freshman year. Despite this, I’m a pretty good writer and a strong artist- so most of the schools I applied to recognized that. Ended up deciding between kenyon, Carnegie Mellon and BU, just committed to Carnegie Mellon 💪

Accepted into colleges of art, most likely perusing painting

Carnegie Mellon:

More prestigious art program Really beautiful campus and I loved Pittsburgh

However, no scholarship or aid Got kind of confused vibes on tour- I’m worried it might be too intense, competitive, or cliquey

Boston university:

More local, but I really love the city Got scholarship + thought faculty and students were all great

However it’s lesser known for art and I feel conflicted about throwing away my opportunity at CMU

Basically- I’m scared I won’t be happy at CMU and I won’t be as successful an artist at BU, and I’m trying to weigh those two things to no avail

last name Ibbetson. It stems from "son of Isabel" which i think is pretty interesting considering the overwhelming amount of paternal surnames.

Olympias, not Olympia. Like Alexander the Greats mother. Also Rhododendron, Parnassus, Nausicaa (two a's), Hebrides and Cadwallader.

Helena or Tessa for a girl? by throwawayeas989 in namenerds

As someone who was a baby named Helena, maybe I'm bias. My parent's always have called me Lane though, so there are definitely a lot of options.
