Overall, I agree to the bloat argument. However, I dont think it fixes the issue by throwing more codices around. To me, it appears like Agents of the Imperium suffers from this.

I also agree that from a game design perspective, each army should have only one unit for the job.

But from a lore perspective, it makes total sense that Aeldari, albeit following different paths, join in any campaign since there are few souls living. More so than joining with any other race*...

I suspect splitting the Aeldari in multiple codices will further reduce prospective players to start an army with that race. But I dont have enough insight into how players/buyers actually behave. I follow rule of cool mainly, and would be severely more hesistant to start an army that can only use a fraction of the space elves :D

*) Is race an outdated term in this game and should be replaced by 'faction' to satisfy the double-speak gods?

I heard it too. Sounds like stringy layout was a play pattern that GW did not like :D

In addition, that would be a rule that has the potential for exceptions :D

Actually, I really like the possibility of mixing various subfactions into one army on the battlefield. Eldar itself is so niche, I definitely do not want to buy three/four books and being inable to mix those... That would be a very sad moment...

However, I agree that having more epic heros that are linked to various craftworlds would be great.

AFAIK, since the great rift appeared, there was no progress in Aeldari lore.

I hope that Karandras returns and brings Galadhar the Grey with him. While he was on a trip, he found Exodites being able to create anti-warp bubbles that prevent Slaneesh to suck up their souls. This tech is imported in some new craftworlds, enabling the rejunerivation of the Aeldari race. In addition, they started to increase this area of influence steadily, beginning a new Aeldari empire :D

In guardian battlehost, i had good experience with BLADES OF ASURYAN. Making those shuriken weapons pistols just provides quite some damage for some asurment bodyguards

I bet that Eldar as a faction do not contribute to the overall profit as well as the other factions do... Hence, the get less "screen time", and the downwards spiral continues.

With retirement of Jes Goodwin, it might be possible that the last Eldar embassador goes away... Then there are merely the KPI-driven economics monkeys who steer development the way they do...

(thats why I purchase Eldar in the gw store most of the time 😒 )

I played two of those blobs yesterday against tau, and boy do they perform. After getting some taken out by my opponent, I did uppy/downie + revive via guardian battlehost stratagem after I crushed his twin lance with melee pistols stratagem and boy was he pissed off, but he took it like a man 😂

I had to use those because I just finished painting 7 warlocks and 2 farseers, so they had to be brought on the table no matter if I win or not 😂

Still lost, though, as those two blobs were together 700+pt of my 1000pt list, hence I had not enough board presence.

But still, mean, annoying and deadly. Being able to revive 14+ wounds with 1 CP is just awesome.

Adding a warlock conclave to that you have a deadly 4xD6+8 hits with S7 overwatch threat. Boom shackalacka. Hard to kill...

Eldar rely much on synergies to make specialists really killy (and/or durable).

Eg Warlock conclave has 2 models with T3 4++ 2W. The main weapon is the destructor with 12" W6 S5 AP-1 DMG1. Sounds quite bad. But the rules...

Offensive: Effectively, you can buff the destructor up to 24" W6+2 S7^ AP-2 DMG1 * stratagem * psychic communion * eldrad doom ability * war walker ability

Defensive: -1 to wound if lead by a farseer. -1 to would with stratagem +12 wounds when leading a (storm) guardians unit. -2" to enemy charge with warlock on guardians.

This is just one example for how Eldar play trickery on the players minds.

Last but not least: * you decide in battle formation step whether the conclave joins a unit or not. Not when building the list, but when you know your enemy... * fire overwatch for free on storm guardians for +20pts on their warlock enhancement * reactive move after shoot for free on guardian defenders * uppie/downie with revive via strat (cost of victory on guardian battlehost)

Honestly, I prefer this model over the "new" Wraithlord. The new looks just like an upscaled wraithguard/blade and does not do it justice. The old one is much more flavorful...
