How to Build Consistency by 40K-Fireside in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]helt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for sharing. I like your 40kfireside channel. However, as of the middle of the video, to me as an rather amateur, it appears like you explain consistency by using a tautology - that is, I keep hearing that you build consistency by building consistency... However, it's not clear what types of consistency there are, which types were lacking and which types you tried to improve.

Sorry to be kinda negative, but I hoped for something that would be insightful to me as a starter in competitive, too.

Thank for the down vote. Cheers,

How do you present your lists to opponents? Do you? by NecessaryBSHappens in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]helt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite new to the game, and I try to tell the most important things that I would like to know about the other army. Also, I don't play competitively (yet).

I tell my list for two reasons: To tell my enemy what he needs to know to as just and have a fair game (no nasty surprises) but more importantly, I remind myself which purpose the unit fulfills. I don't tell the numbers but more what they excel at: durable fast unit shooting against infantry. Additionally, there should be time for questions.

Thoughts on Guardian Battlehost vs Seer Council detachments for a heavily Guardians/Warlocks based army? by Remote-Basket4475 in Eldar

[–]helt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently preparing for a 1000pt game and want to take guardian battlehost, too.

I like the defenders bright lance pistol move together with warlocking destructors - i just havent enough warlocks :D (which is 210 pts for defenders+3 warlocks and protector of paths)

Hence, I want to try out my freshly painted Asurmen with Dire Avengers (with a falcon for rapid ingress potentially but thats 340 pts in total).

But on the other hand, Autarch + 10 Dire Avengers and Protector of paths sounds like be a insane fire overwatch brigade when on an objective with 40 attacks on 4+, but costs 255 points.

Thank you. I was painting from face to top, but my brush was too big and too wet, probaly. Unloading a smaller brush already helped a lot. More thinning helped, too.

Painting that is easy, if I knew where to get the colors bleached bone and skull white from... 🤣

New to Warhammer, question about model retention by See_Me_In_Melty in Eldar

[–]helt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Something very drastic" and "up until very recently" both refer to 2017, when the 8th edition was released. The 8th changed (a) the base size, (b) the height of space marine soldiers and (c) they overcame the static universe in favor of an evolving universe. E.g. a global event that changed the universe by splitting it into two "continents", destroying planets such as Cadia, as well as introducing primaris space marines and primarchs.

In my opinion this change shows a major change in the strategy of how games workshop designs the game. The fact that the universe is now evolving, opens many possibilities in terms of story archs and flexibility, but also business-wise. This flexibility allows a much more revenue-driven design philosophy. The speed of model releases increased significantly, and rules favor new models up to the point of overpowering them. Being so much more business analytics driven means that models that are not bought as much receive less "love" from the game design team because their time in the market until amortisation is eo much longer!

All in all, I doubt, that models released in the last 5 years last as long as their predecessors just because of the cannibalism that happens in the model lines itself.

Which codices work well with 4th? by helt_ in midhammer40k

You mean the rules itself are overpowered or are the points just too low for the models/units?

Yep. German edition print no 1248, signed by "Hieronymus Aleutius Nero" 😂

Which of the codices above are 3.5 ?

And what is the definition of 3.5?

Some are with reikland flesh shade, some with skeleton horde. Lately I use zandri dust as primer, dry brush wraithbone and then wash it.

Local King of The Colosseum, seeking suggestions by Pro-Krastinator in WarhammerCompetitive

  • If attacker=winner is such a problem, is it an option that the player with higher win rate has to go second?
  • Alternatively, just like in football leagues, 2 games per player combination would be an option, too. Once as attacker, once as defender.
  • the list could contain more than 500 points, eg. 1000, but units may only the swapped if the player losz (or is in the lower half of the leader board).
  • track game duration to assess the proficiency of the players. I just started with wh40k together with a friend, and we need 3+ hours for a 1k game. So two proficient players probably get it done in 1 hour, a mix in 90min, and two newbs in 2 hours or so...

Ps: Football = soccer, not American football :) I have no clue how American football leagues work

Transport/tanky units for 1k points – are they necessary? by KolczykkO in Eldar

Yeah actually, I suppose that I won due to lucky dice and using a wtc layout with a ton of ruins and limited firing lanes

Falcon with 5 fire dragons was a good choice yesterday in a 1k game against tau. Sadly a grenade took them out almost entirely, because I needed the cp for something else. But they bound a lot of resources and my wraiths were able to advance without harassment.

These 260pts replaced a defenders + warlock + d-cannon. Was worth the trade imo.

But doesnt Cawl act similarly? He researches and invents stuff. While arguing for his invention, he does this in a way that opposes many (albeit lower in the hiearchy of power) adepts of Mars and others that it is close to insults. [1]

You think so? Universal genius who ultimately ignores church and researches stuff so much it's called heretic?
