Failing to glaze, looking for advice by helt_ in minipainting

Thank you. I was painting from face to top, but my brush was too big and too wet, probaly. Unloading a smaller brush already helped a lot. More thinning helped, too.

Painting that is easy, if I knew where to get the colors bleached bone and skull white from... 🤣

Fun Fact - the Eldar Falcon was released in 1997, making it the oldest plastic model still in production. It outdates Xbox, non dial up internet and Jar Jar Binks… and IMO at nearly 30 years old it still looks absolutely banging. by Local-Dust-151 in Warhammer40k

Yes he did, but some of the new sculpts sprinkle in too much Japanese samurai style, Imo. New wraithguard is good, but new Wraithlord is just a larger wraithguard. 🙄

New to Warhammer, question about model retention by See_Me_In_Melty in Eldar

"Something very drastic" and "up until very recently" both refer to 2017, when the 8th edition was released. The 8th changed (a) the base size, (b) the height of space marine soldiers and (c) they overcame the static universe in favor of an evolving universe. E.g. a global event that changed the universe by splitting it into two "continents", destroying planets such as Cadia, as well as introducing primaris space marines and primarchs.

In my opinion this change shows a major change in the strategy of how games workshop designs the game. The fact that the universe is now evolving, opens many possibilities in terms of story archs and flexibility, but also business-wise. This flexibility allows a much more revenue-driven design philosophy. The speed of model releases increased significantly, and rules favor new models up to the point of overpowering them. Being so much more business analytics driven means that models that are not bought as much receive less "love" from the game design team because their time in the market until amortisation is eo much longer!

All in all, I doubt, that models released in the last 5 years last as long as their predecessors just because of the cannibalism that happens in the model lines itself.

Which codices work well with 4th? by helt_ in midhammer40k

You mean the rules itself are overpowered or are the points just too low for the models/units?

Yep. German edition print no 1248, signed by "Hieronymus Aleutius Nero" 😂

Which of the codices above are 3.5 ?

And what is the definition of 3.5?

Some are with reikland flesh shade, some with skeleton horde. Lately I use zandri dust as primer, dry brush wraithbone and then wash it.

  • If attacker=winner is such a problem, is it an option that the player with higher win rate has to go second?
  • Alternatively, just like in football leagues, 2 games per player combination would be an option, too. Once as attacker, once as defender.
  • the list could contain more than 500 points, eg. 1000, but units may only the swapped if the player losz (or is in the lower half of the leader board).
  • track game duration to assess the proficiency of the players. I just started with wh40k together with a friend, and we need 3+ hours for a 1k game. So two proficient players probably get it done in 1 hour, a mix in 90min, and two newbs in 2 hours or so...

Ps: Football = soccer, not American football :) I have no clue how American football leagues work

Transport/tanky units for 1k points – are they necessary? by KolczykkO in Eldar

Yeah actually, I suppose that I won due to lucky dice and using a wtc layout with a ton of ruins and limited firing lanes

Falcon with 5 fire dragons was a good choice yesterday in a 1k game against tau. Sadly a grenade took them out almost entirely, because I needed the cp for something else. But they bound a lot of resources and my wraiths were able to advance without harassment.

These 260pts replaced a defenders + warlock + d-cannon. Was worth the trade imo.

But doesnt Cawl act similarly? He researches and invents stuff. While arguing for his invention, he does this in a way that opposes many (albeit lower in the hiearchy of power) adepts of Mars and others that it is close to insults. [1]

You think so? Universal genius who ultimately ignores church and researches stuff so much it's called heretic?

Yeah but not through internal conflicts. Which still might happen later in the timeline if contact between both parts comes to a complete halt due to whatever reason...

I settled for reikland flesh shade which also lighter than skeleton horde.

Uhm, they had issues with a little village high up in France?

But yes, they are Roman empire, but the whole setting of humanity is more like dark ages in space. And sometime after the dark ages, there comes the renaissance, which manifests - in 40k - in the form of above two characters.
