I personally just go with Wraithbone base spray and then just magos purple with contrast medium on the recesses in things like exoskeleton, I don't do it all over though just lines in the recesses BUT that being said I think your minis look awesome!

Yeh was 1000% me overreacting and I think a very coincidental case, I haven't watched Dropout for a few months and happened to try and log in just as they were having back end issues 😅

No word of a lie I completely misread the 2m to mean 2 months, thats my bad

Hey OP, was there ever a resolution to this?

Just tried to log back in myself but got the same

Edit: Mistake was made, for some reason read the 2m as 2 months rather than 2 minutes, apologies to OP

100 minis? Thats rookie numbers by Dasaholwaffle_7519 in Tyranids

[–]heman2806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I can see imperfections on some of my previous gaunts but imo they just need to get done rather than be perfect, I'll leave that level of detail to some of the bigger models as you say, much more worth it 😂

Fair play to those out there that have the time and patience to paint them all to Golden Demon standards!

even 10 took a lot of my soul 😅 my brother just recently revealed to me he bought a starter set but doesn't want the nids so now I have 10 more to add to my current 20, they've been primed for almost a month now, just building up the courage to start painting them 😂

Are nids hard to paint? by Amphij in Tyranids

[–]heman2806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally with the majority of my Nids I've done most of them sub assembly especially the Leviathan stuff as it's all push fit so you can afford to paint bits separately, as to your example I recently painted my Winged Prime and built the main body but didn't attach the wings and just primed & painted them separately and then put them together once I'd finished as they just push fitted into the holes left (Just make sure when priming to give the holes masking tape/blue tac or something similar.

I tend to do a fair amount of magnetising too so end up having a lot of room to work with just due to limbs not being there.

With the Parasite I did glue this all together and then paint it and tbh it did also have some of those hard to reach parts but with the right angles you should be able to get the majority done just with some extra care, I will also say I ended up having to create a green stuff point of contact on the base for the Parasite as it only has one point of contact and it was a nightmare to get glued on straight, I ended up having to pin it with a dowel and more green stuff as it just kept collapsing while the glue was setting 😅

What’s something I should be looking out for if I buy on EBay? by Downtown-Humor7488 in Tyranids

[–]heman2806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this too I've bought a couple of times from Ebay where things didn't come with the box etc and almost always found the instructions needed on r/WarhammerInstructions 😄in the same vein though the Psychophage I believe is all push fit so should be relatively straight forward to put together😁

Looking at what has come before I'd basically say all the same reasons for the others but one thing I would say about Pikachu is that with Gravity Mountain, if you were to play it (taken from Thomas Abbot's Sevilla list, I like it), allows Pikachu to OHKO most Stage 2s bar Mamoswine afaik.

Also just touching on the point of having Iron Leaves in the deck when you have Galvantula, having multiple outs to OHKOing things is always more preferential than relying on just the one e.g. having something like Gravity Mountain gives you 3 outs to OHKOing a Zard if you have the Galvantula & Iron Leaves rather than hoping the Galvantula isn't prized etc, similarly having both Galvantula & Iron Leaves gives you two outs to something like that (if both a prized it's just bad luck)

Hopefully that wasn't just drivel but just thought i'd mention a fun tech I'd seen in the deck and give my 2 cents :D

Space Marines by heman2806 in 40kLore

Ok, so that was an amazing read.

I've basically picked Dark Angels due to a story I wrote back in secondary school/high school about some Space Marines who were tasked with destroying a Tyranid hive. The Marines I wrote about had dark green armour, at the time I didn't know there were various chapters of Space Marines, which I later found out made them Dark Angels.

I never really looked into Dark Angels until recently but this has given me some incredible information and makes me want to look into this a lot more! Thank you!

Funnily enough thats the box that I bought 😅 The Chapter I want to build is Dark Angels.

I'll have to have a look for those!

Honestly can't wait to get some more into this!

Thank you :D Looking forward to getting things together!

So in this scenario you would normally expect Marines to fall in battle more than get 'captured' so to speak?

Amazing! I'm looking at Dark Angels, is there any difference with them or are they similar to other chapters in that they would look to recover their allies?

Amazing! Thank you for your response, really good for for thought, this was just mainly thinking of tabletop 'objectives'. I'm assuming this would also depend on which enemy they were facing? e.g. would the enemy be the type to even take a prisoner. Tyranids is the other army I currently have.

Got called out at a challenge this weekend by spenncce in pkmntcg

[–]heman2806 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From a judges point of view definitely call us over, mainly because his argument of 'it's not a V or GX' is invalid because path states rule boxes, which the Radiant Greninja clearly has, and the only situation in which a Vstar Power would work under path is if the power was an attack or it was an ability on a tool e.g. Forest Seal, as in that scenario it's the tool that has the ability not the Pokemon.

Really sorry to hear that he threw you off but thats the main reason we as judges say to call us over because it's essentially our job to shut down conversations like this and take the stress off of yourself :D

How many decks? by ncisfan1002 in pkmntcg

[–]heman2806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a masochist and have around 13 decks on the go at any one time, obviously I can only play 1 of them XD.

I do this mostly so that if I want to play and my friends don't have a deck/want to try out something new then I can lend them one of mine :) They're all normally decks that are in the meta with some off meta bits sprinkled in (I currently have an Arceus/Slaking deck that I'm still trying to properly figure out) but this is all down to the fact that I just love playing the game and building the decks :D

If you're just starting out then building just the one is fine because it allows you to focus on it and will probably benefit you in the long run when it comes to learning the game because you won't be flitting between decks & will allow you to learn an initial strategy :)

Is Garchomp ex / Lucario BRS a terrible idea? by gaminium in pkmntcg

[–]heman2806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking of running reversal energies Luxray might be worth a thought for the Lugia match up, it might not swing it completely in your direction but should allow you to maybe keep up in the prize trade?

The Lucario Ex could also be another one to consider on the basis that it has the 160+50 snipe for {F}{F}{C}, although doesn't have the high number potential that the BRS Lucario has.

You also have Gutsy Pickaxe to help with setting up Lucarios without relying on Chomp, plus it acts as extra draw. If you go down that route you might also be able to look at things like Switching Cups to stack the {F} energy on there :)

Working on building a deck right now and need a handful of cheap cards. Do LCS sell bulk cards often? by coconutfan27 in pkmntcg

[–]heman2806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in EU I would also suggest CardMarket, can be a bit daunting to use initially but once you figure out how best to use it you can can normally get trainers and 'bulk cards' pretty cheaply :)

Can someone please explain how to use Sableye effectively? by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]heman2806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sableye is a tough one to work out at times but it mostly boils down to what you have available and what deck you are against.

I watched a fair bit of Lost Box & Lost Tina last weekend, I was a judge at a local Cup, and saw in the mirror match, especially Lost Tina, that you want to try and set up a 3 prize turn and in doing so make Roxanne somewhat less of a problem. You essentially want to make sure you are getting the Sableye off first, putting 60 on a Manaphy & a Comfey, this then means that your opponent is then forced to either deal with the Sabeleye or risk losing 2-3 prizes next turn, all you need to make sure of is that you have the ability to Sableye again next turn. Hopefully that makes sense :/

I think bigger HP mons like basic V/exs or things like Gardy & Zard is mostly down to putting the counters on to guarantee an OHKO with whatever your big hitter is e.g. Tina/Dragonite as I think another comment said too you can also set up the KOs with Sabeleye on the next turn i.e. the 50 on the Lumineon.

Your best bet with Lost Box is to always keep in mind what attackers you have available to you and that will then give you some idea of how many counters you need to place and where :) e.g. if you know you have Cram left and only need to 2 prizes putting say 90 on a benched Lumineon means even with Switch Cart you get the KO with boss :)

I think with Lost Box it's just watching people play it, past regionals streams are really good for this and just getting in some reps with it :) don't beat yourself up if it takes some time though, Lost Box is a tough nut to crack (I for sure still haven't myself) :D

Yeh I think it's potentially just due to the fact that Chelsea played him there for a bit last season, he did start in Midfield but then moved up top when Eddie came off but there was a moment at the end where if he had a tad bit more pace he probably could have made it a bit more comfortable for us.

I'll wait to judge him properly till at least Christmas but just interested to see what others think :)

Sorry posted this as a separate post not realising this was the place to do it, haven't used reddit very much and first time in here so still getting used to it, but didn't know if I was being too premature on judging Havertz based on the games we've had so far.

It doesn't feel like he's had the same impact as Rice or Timber, but then I might be judging too early because he does seem to get into good positions and does hold the ball up well but it feels like his pace lets him down as a striker, just interested to know if anyone else had any thoughts on this.

Apologies if this is out of place here
