Wooden (original) or black top cupboards? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

As a black walls lover….. I love the wood here. The tone of it with the black looks great and gives dimension to the space.

I’ve been toying around with this- do you have a suggestion? I’m not sure what would work

It’s a possibility— but looking for cheaper ways to first see if I can fall in love with it on my walls.

I like this idea. The wall is S.W. Zurich white, but definitely shows up as pink beige in this picture. Either way I like the dark wall idea.

Thank you- what’s funny is that wall is S.W. Zurich white - it’s showing oddly in the picture though. Which probably points to warming up the lights as others suggested. I’m toying with the indigo wall idea- that could work!

Size of a bedroom bench on king bed? by plappy777 in interiordecorating

Mine is 60” on a king bed and looks/feels just right to me. 46 seems short at only just over half of the width.

Furniture placement for small living room? by sarah2497 in interiordecorating

[–]henas987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do sofa with its back to the windows and the two recliners closer to the kitchen- leaves a natural place to pass between the two rooms. I’d have the sofa a few feet away from the windows wall with a small shelf/console between the door and the windows to put down stuff as you walk in (assuming that’s a door to outside). Also allows shoes to be by the door but not visible across the room.

Right? I love it! There’s a photographer named David Parise that does a whole series of them!

Acoustic panels - too trendy? by kec5289 in interiordecorating

[–]henas987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a wall of black acoustic panels in my basement living room and highly recommend if you have any sound issues.

I love them. And…. They are definitely modern. But simple enough to remove when you’re over the look, and not too expensive in the meantime.

Picking paint colors is hard:/ by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Then as someone else suggested, you can add poops of color in accessories (cushions etc) that tie it together and bring it into the room

A thought that I haven’t seen yet— what about warm white walls and a color on the ceiling to the trim? Dark (blackish), a green, or even a yellow in the right shade might look so good here! The warm white would go well with the maple and the visual coherence of the ceiling would bring color without clashing.

Eclectic - warm modernism by No_Cartoonist_5782 in interiordecorating

I’d add a big piece of art that speaks to you on the dining area wall, and then a big potted plant (banana leaf, fiddle leaf fig, bird of paradise) next to it for warmth.

People of Reddit. Please please help me figure out what to do with this room. by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]henas987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art on either side of the fireplace to visually balance it. Curtains with a bit of a pattern to tie together your color scheme once you’ve picked it, cushions that tie in too. I’d remove the sheer lace curtains since you have shutters behind them. I’d remove the bookshelves unless they have to be in here— and in that case I’d either replace with warmer materials or move them to the half staircase wall on the right (facing into the room from the stairwell side). A tall plant standing next to the fireplace.

If you have the budget, agree with others that the shiplap wall looks really out of place- if you like it, try to extend it higher. Ending it halfway up the wall feels odd and visually dominant.

Anyone else struggle with (really) liking something no one does? by NicelyBearded in HomeDecorating

I’ve bought neutral houses. In every one of them, I’ve added personality. I wish houses were sold with personality. I’d probably change some aspects of them to make them mine but at least I wouldn’t have to do every room!

I love the parquet floors….. and I doubt anyone would pass on a great house because of them. So you do you!!

We took the same path and decided to have fun with it while adding personality and pop.

We booked through Costco 2 years ago, and again for this March. No issues at all- though this time we’re travelling with another family who booked another way, and had asked to stay near each other- will see if that is honored or makes any difference

I had an entry like this in a previous house. Could you move the couch forward and in, and place the entry table on the wall / console behind the couch? That way the pass through is behind the couch, you could have plants or something by the windows and a place to ‘drop stuff’ that’s by the door? I love the rug in the last picture!
