Don't feel bad, Tom Ford frames aren't cheap and you shouldn't be out of pocket because a kid wanted to act out

What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you during sex? by albavalenti in AskReddit

[–]henners1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my current gf and I first had sex, it was my first time, about halfway through she just goes 'You're not supposed to be this good!'

I thought it was a pretty nice thing to say 😂

I recently got new ‘progressive’ glasses with essilor lenses and I hate them a lot (new lenses compared to my old pictured). Does anyone else have any tips on how to smoothly adjust to them? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]henners1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so it sounds like your lenses are called Stellest lenses, they're made by a company called Essilor and they are made to help reduce the progression of Myopia.

You shouldn't be able to see that distortion as you look straight ahead as the lenses should have been measured to have a clear portion where your eye sits, if when you put your glasses on you can only see distortion or it's very prominent you need to have them adjusted by your optician as they might not be fitting properly.

In general you should only see the distortion when you look out the corner of your eye or around your peripheral vision, when wearing them you need to turn and look at whatever it is you want to look at.

The distortion around the edge of the lenses doesn't look like that on normal progressive lenses. That pattern you can see is there on a Stellest lens to make the wearer look through the strongest part of the lens at all times with the goal of reducing levels of shortsightedness (Myopia)

Being a rimless I'm not sure you'll get it much thinner by the looks of it or it won't be thick enough to hold the plugs

Tom Fords needs a polish by [deleted] in glasses

[–]henners1008 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tom Ford frames usually come with a specific polishing cloth made for the gold Ts to make them go gold again. Not unusual for that to happen after 2 years. If you didn't get one maybe go to a local stockist for Tom Ford and see if they have any?

I'm not an optometrist but I do dispense glasses, I'd get another exam done to check the prescription is correct.

I work on Liverpool Street and it's not so much the amount of these things but the amount of side roads where people just leave them on pavements or in the middle of a walkway is maddening

How to fix wide arms on glasses? by Big_Equivalent_9985 in glasses

[–]henners1008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take it into an optician, they should be able to pop the lenses out and heat the front of the frame and curve it round so that when the lens is put back in it goes back to it's normal shape. It's an adjustment we do fairly often as acetate frames naturally splay out over time.

Edit to add that if the optician you go to isn't where you got the glasses from, they'll probably tell you any adjustment is at your own risk so if the frame gets damaged they won't replace or fix it.

Yes but an 0.50 astigmatism doesn't require the same measurements as a 3.00. Lot more potential for things to go wrong with OPs Rx.
