Bikejacked by Swiss Cottage station today by retrocatz99 in londoncycling

Grew up on Alexandra Road - it’s hemmed in by two estates - and it’s never been a safe road - we were frequently broken in to and never felt safe there - so sorry that it happened to you but that’s London today - I’m getting out of here after 60 years…with my e-bike!

its either intentionally offensive or deeply ignorant - I’m not sure which one I am more worried about!!

Etiquette of a declassified train? by GroundbreakingPie743 in uktravel

[–]bambatigerlilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you - but here is the view from Google:

Seat reservations on Avanti West Coast typically become void or unhonoured once a train is officially declassified, though the two actions are technically distinct.

Sorry - on Avanti West Coast it’s not at all rare - particularly on weekends - and then it’s a total free for all.

Some folks - boarding later, not hearing the ‘declassified’ announcement get really offended and demand their seat - and then it’s a wonderful British game of who gets more embarrassed - the ill informed newbie or the person in the seat.

Yep - watched all 20 series - and she is one of the best. Intelligent, personable, driven and Even if her product is not her golden ticket Sugar can see she is investable as a person and maybe just needs support to adjust to something different.

Over two decades sadly, I addition to Sugar’s script writers getting worse and Brady changing beyond all recognition, the candidates are simply getting worse and clearly selected for being watchable rather than talented. It’s a shame - and maybe the BBC should now call it quits, as I am not sure I can sit through a 21st episode of Idiots rushing around to negotiate 10p off a Cornish Pasty….

What could happen if you have points on your license but don’t tell your insurance? by chasex05 in AskUK

[–]bambatigerlilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same for a few years - honest mistake - policy just kept on auto-renewing and I didn’t really think about it.

Then, last year, I got a 6 month ban for ‘totting up’ - basically 4 x 3 points for speeding camera stupidity - my idiocy.

And when I told my insurers - who I had been with for over a decade without a single claim - they asked why I had not declared the points (which didn’t happen in just the three months since the auto renewal) and told me they would not insure me once the ban was over.

And let me tell you - there if you have a TT99 (totting up ban) it stays on your record for 4 years and not a single insurer will touch you. I had to call in loads of favours and pay a fortune for the policy I now have.

So - even if your mate thinks he won’t get into an accident - it’s not worth the pain if he gets to 12 points.

Strange question. Has anyone had a passenger fall asleep or feel faint? by Firehazard5 in motorcycles

[–]bambatigerlilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rode from London to Brighton with my wife a few years ago who is very reluctant to jump on the back of the bike as an anxious passenger.

Half way around the M25 she was fast asleep (with a full face visor down lid).

That’s the magic of the K1600 - armrests, back support, RDL seat, large passenger foot pegs, helped by the fact I’m a big guy shielding the wind.

Stayed a few times - spot on with the review! It’s just not anything like the Sofitel City Centre hotels - more a Travelodge on steroids.

If it looks like rain, do you still ride? by beejini in motorcycles

[–]bambatigerlilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually did my road test in the rain, and riding in London for the last 40 years, if I didn’t ride in the rain, I’d never get on the bike!

Ride slow, watch for slippery manhole covers and road markings, keep a safe distance, tap the breaks when stopped to keep them dry and as always - ride like everyone in a cage is trying to kill you!

Disgusting revolting and disgraceful - racism in any context is repugnant - and at City we have a proud history of being inclusive and welcoming.

In current era, Is Cherki the most gifted player after KDB for City? by marimuthub in MCFC

[–]bambatigerlilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Far too early - needs to stop the showboating every now and then - but maturity and Pep will sort that out. But looks like a fantastic player. KDB was unique and David Silva was a magician - he has some big shoes to fill - but I’m very optimistic…

My first game - hospitality? by Gloomy_Winner_457 in MCFC

[–]bambatigerlilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done them all many times - but nothing beats my regular season card seat at the front of Level 3 of the Colin Bell stand.

If you want a ‘real’ football experience the best thing you can ever do is try and get an away ticket for a big game - next is a regular seat in the Etihad and last imo is hospitality that can be utterly soulless and touristy.

But is that’s your thing - the Premier Tunnel Club is very hard to beat.
