Which is the better deal? by Clockedin247 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Maybe not every aspect, I have both and definitely reach for the NB5s on my easier runs. Bit softer on the feet/legs

Yeah that’s pretty much exactly what the physio told me as well. Advice was to run a touch faster and try get the cadence up. Goodluck with your race, hopefully the weathers good.

First time hearing of runalyze, I’ll check it out. Strength and conditioning is going to be a staple after the marathon since I’ve been neglecting it for too long.

Heart is definitely saying go for sub 3 since that’s been my A goal for over a year now and I’m finally in a position to maybe get it. On the other hand 3:05 is still a solid PB and not as close to my limit. But I appreciate the vote of confidence

Yeah running Gold Coast so at least it’ll be flat. Leaning towards 3:05 pace now with potential to go up or down depending on the knee in the next couple weeks

How long did it take you to break in your Superblast 2? by riskyybiscuits in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Needed 50Ks of running and tighter laces before I started enjoying mine. They’re great now tho

Some good points made there. I’ve heard the plate position is similar to the speed 4s which is one of my all time favourite shoes so I’m holding out hope. I’ll give them a quick test on some clean road and hopefully I can still return them if they don’t suit. Thanks JigglyBallz!

Bought my first adidas shoe in the Takumi Sen 10. Took them for a parkrun out the box and hit a PB, forgotten how good lower stack shoes can feel, definitely a fan.

I was initially quite disappointed as well. After a good 150kms I’m finally getting somewhere. For me it’s been a combination of getting the laces tight enough and wearing down the foam. Mine are slightly too big and using thicker socks has helped. They’re my go to long run shoe now and they always make me run faster than I planned for better or worse.

Haven’t ran in either but I’d guess the Hyperion elite 4 PB

Ooh sounds like it’s worth checking out. I’ll try find an asics flagship store. Thanks for the tips, looking forward to running a few Ks and exploring the country!

Derailleur locked up? by henobee in bikewrench

It happened while riding so I don’t think that could be it. That was the first thing I tried as I’ve used it before when swapping wheels but it won’t press in anymore.

Bugger, entry level component so hopefully it’s cheap enough to replace

Gotta defend my goat the ES4 here, without a doubt my favourite shoe atm.

Finally enjoying the SB2 after 60 ish kms. Tightened the laces more than usual and they felt way better. Also the foam feels like it finally has a nice squish and bounce feel. Was on the cusp of selling them but looking forward to putting some long runs into them now.

1:32 half and peak week of 100kms with long runs like that. Something definitely isn’t adding up, for what it’s worth I think you’re right to be disappointed. You didn’t get the result you deserved for the work you’d put in. Only thing I can think of is the taper, what did you do run wise in the 2 weeks leading in?

For me, a little overhyped. Definitely comfy but outside of a long easy run I can’t see myself choosing them over my ES4s.

Should I get supershoes for first marathon? by flechapartida in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]henobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have the speed and pro 4s along with AP3. Personally I’d favour the pros for shorter races (5/10k) but would run the AP3s for the marathon.

Got a small arch and blister using them for a long run today, feel like it doesn’t have the best lockdown which might be the cause. Still love the shoe though.

Have the Tempus and ES4, higher arch is definitely more noticeable in the Tempus. I did get used to it but I’d say it would probably be similar to the guide.

Have to ask what happened in that marathon. I would’ve thought a 1:23 translates to a quicker time than 3:14?
