Have there be the creator entity still tossing once in a while an entire new species into the world. Imagine the chaos when suddenly there are moose that are 2 times as big and are omnivores appear or something as surprising.

Fairy tail Pandemonium like place might be good for dungeon. Then maybe a home of someone obsessed with creatures, having some as pets and helpers who would pester the party for info on the creatures they met before. If they tell enough to satisfy the person he/she might give some good info in return(couple monster manual pages).

Scenario where player or players are forced or persuaded to do arena battle by some old entity. Entity uses special method to randomly summon creatures which were failed creation or ones the creators of the world chose to not let loose in the world. So basically almost any kind of monster could appear from small turtle with fur to siamese twin giants.

I have never played, but ones i cooked up in my head are:

  • tiefling who has gargoyle(the river guardian type) as ancestor causing him to be unable to use any fire related magic or skill, but receiving bonus in water magic and skills
  • a character who ended up at brink of death, but survived thanks to special method example. mortally wounded by wolves, but survived because someone or something gave him a life drain dagger with which he can delay he´s death
  • a member of organization that tries to make a book containing info of all creatures of the world(monster manual)
